the 300 watters are self balasted so the only thing you gotta do is screw it in plug the wire in and flip a switch.

Please remember that it is best if you buy cool bulbs (bluer, harder to find, and more expensive) for vegging. Look for 5500 or 6000K in color. If it doesn't say something on the package about it being something other than your ordinary CFL, then it's probably not. For budding you want a more reddish light, like the more common CFLs (2700K).

I snagged a bunch of 23 W blue ones at Bi-mart for $3 each.
