    Roots Daughtah

Greetings in the name of Jah Rastafari,
I notice some people have questions about rasta and the Caribbean. There also seems to be misinformation. Feel free to 'pick my brains' I am a Rastafari woman and I carry the title Roots Daughter because I 'smoke weed like a man without losing my senses'. A roots daughter is a woman who can smoke and still 'reason' with the brethren. It was beleived in the past that 'smokin weed turn woman foolish'. Unless you were a roots daughtah you were not allowed to smoke weed but could take it as tea etc. Any other 'roots daughters' out there? You don't have to be black or rasta you just need to be a true pot head.
    Blessings
    Shanti

Just go to any island it does not have to be mine. You might not want to leave. Thank you for your sympathy. I try to accept that I could not change what happened and it was not my fault. I'm sure your 5 yr old is a hand-full, they all are. My six year old is a motor-mouth, he makes me tired just listening and answering all of his questions

Thank you for your compliment. A roots daughter is just a woman who becomes wise when high. We believe that your state of mind influences your weed experience. Some rastamen (mostly the 'old heads' or elder rastas) will always pray before they toke and weed is 'passed' like a sacriment at 'groundings' or 'groundations' which is where rastas gather to 'reason'. 'Reasoning' is a group discussion and it can be on any topic.
Weed makes you open to the spiritual side of life but some people abuse weed. Weed as we all know has aphrodisiac qualities and some men try to use this to their advantage but a roots daughter does not usually fall prey to this since I control the weed. The weed does not control me. It enhances my creativity and opens my mind but it does not control the 'roots daughter'.

Many Irish settled in Barbados in the 1800's I think. You would find that many of us have surnames that are familiar to you. We also say 'shite' as a cuss word. Is that familiar to ye ?

Hey ashwantia, already glad to have you around here

I grew up in St Thomas before I moved to the states, so you're even closer to the equator than I was. Man it must get sizzling down there!

I wondered though, are the west indians who live in St Thomas generally rasta? When I lived there I was still too young to care so I never found out for myself. In any case, having lived it I can say island life is a good indicator of happy life, so I'm sure you'll be good company around here Take it all so very easy..

I am closer and it does get hot but we have cool breeze off the sea and hot season is also rainy season so it can be fairly cool. We have a milder climate than Jamaica and Trinidad. There probably would be very few Rastas in St. thomas since I think that was one of the Islands that actually had a LAW against wearing dreadlocks. Island life is very good life. You can drink the water anywhere here. Cruise ships actually buy water from us. Of course there's also de weed mon (which people hardly say as much as in the movies). We got some good stuff in the Caribbean.
