question about clones

If i have a friend who is growing an outdoor plant, can i just cut a branch off his plant at the stem then take it home and put the end that i cut in some soil? will i actually get anybud from this and does there have to first be a bud growing on that branch or can i just take a branch with some leaves on it? thanks for all replies

Well to start with if its a female and it lives after you cut it, yes it well produce bud down the road a bit. I would look in the phone book for a good nursery or a good garden supply place and go down and buy some of the stuff you need to put on cuts to get them to root. Do some more research before doing it so you know what to do and expect before you try it.

I find it really hard to get them going with just water..
Don take a whole branch.
Just take it from 4/5 sets of leaves from the tip.
You want to find a good Gel.
Like Clonex/or rootex.
Your local Nursery shoud have some..
