hey well i was just reading the thread called "social worker" and got me thinking. does everyone think counslers are like that? Or just social workers? because on monday im going to see my counsler that i use to see(to help with the break up of sasha and me). And he actually helps me, hes just an outlet i can talk to that will respond with intelligent and usually helpful information. I think counslers are great. yeah... then again tho it may just be my counsler, hes fucking tight.

Sounds cool, but mine is trying to get me checked out by doctors for depression and put me on some meds i dont need. Ever since i ve been going to him my lifes been pretty much going to shit. He calls me non-motivated and shit and says that weed is leading me into deepression. I always respond with telling him i am the most motivated 16 year old i know and if he can find one who is more, point them the fuck out. ( i work 20-30 hours a week and have recently bought myself a car wih money i have saved for the past two years. The depression thing is great though cause he seems like the saddest dude in the world. hes also been trying o convince me that i am suicidal. I always go "why would i want to kill myself?" It always ends there.
Just my situation though. Its cool u got a good counselor.

I think what your doing is a good call, sometimes, us humans need to vent and have it heard by someone you can trust....I hope all is well . we humans are just tender beings that need that inspiration to continue in this world......

Life is full of trial and error....and with your experience.....maybe someday,
someone will ask you for your advise......

Have to agree with penguien on this one. Just like anything else you need to find a counselor/physc that works for you. Mine was great. He did for me what I needed done in that point in my life. He was a guide and did his best to be my friend, when I was pissed off at everyone. I'd love to go back and bullshit with him, but I don't have the $250 to sit around and chat for an hour with him, plus I can't help but think the friendship thing was just part of his job.... Either way he was super cool.

I posted the shit talking about social workers...just because my experience was a waste of time and money, but if your counselor helps you, do it. I was in therapy(with a Psychiatrist) when I broke up with my first boyfriend, my therapist had me saying all sorts of mantras to help me deal with it, it was kind of lame, but it may work.....

... my experience was completely different. Basically I went in, talked about shit that was troubling me, and he basically tried to find different things that were at the root of the issues. Never told me what to do, never had any bullshit mantras. Just gave me the pieces to the puzzle and let me put things together. It was exactly what I needed at the time.

sometimes you find a counselor that tells you what he thinks is wrong and immediately wants to blame your parents for you...It actually caused alot of problems...He callled my parents into a session and made me tell them how he thought they had fucked up. what a fuckin quack!

My counselor told me to keep repeating this mantra until it made sense:

    O-wah tahgoo siam

It calmed me until I figured it out
