Creationists like to ask why apes aren't evolving into humans, which is as ridiculous as asking why elephants aren't evolving into swans. Biological diversity arose because each animal fits into a certain niche of the ecosystem. Apes have their own niche, which seems to be working fine for them. They have all sorts of features that help them live and thrive in their own environment, and they don't need to walk around on two legs with no hair and be super-intelligent to do it.

A more important question would be, if Creationism is true, then why did God create chimpanzees to be almost exactly like humans (we share almost all of our DNA with chimps)? "Hmmmm, I think I'll make these animals in my own image, call them 'humans', and have them reign over the earth. But wait! I think I'll make something almost in my image and put it in the jungles, just to really make them wonder. How about I make a whole family of almost-humans, and bury fossils that make it look like there was some sort of proto-animal that looks like all of them! Oooh, I could even make strings of slowly changing fossils so they get the crazy idea that animals change over time."
