    Need advice on growing space

    Did you get the email?
Zandor Reviewed by Zandor on . Need advice on growing space This is the MAX space I can use for a closet cabinet grow: 4ft high, 2.5 feet wide, 2 feet deep My plan is to grow a single flowering plant from seed in that area with either 250W HPS + 80W CFL's, or 400W total CFL (or something you can recommend?). Strain will either be Northern Lights or Low Rider. I could use some advice on what's an ideal cabinet size for my area. Let me know if I'm on crack with this idea. :o Rating: 5

The box has been built. It is 5x2x2 and was made out of plank boards glued together, cut, nailed, then will be sanded and varnished. It will be light sealed from the inside and then lined with mylar. The front panel was cut horizontally in half and the top became the door to keep it small. Looks damn good for free shit so far!

Awaiting lights, odor control, and duct fan to complete. Pics were taken by a digital camcorder and thus a bit crappy.

Ok now you need to line the inside with 3/8" roof insulation sheet foam they have one that is white backing with a silver front. Install it on the inside of your box and use gray tape to seal the corners and edges. You can put your Mylar over the form. This will help to seal in your odor and stop light leaks as well as keep bugs out.

Is the foam necessary? The inside will be air sealed with silicone and putty where the planks have gaps. No problems if you still recommend it.

Well the foam is only about 5 bucks a sheet. It will provide a seal for the cracks and is an easy way to enclose a room or box and control all the corners and cracks it's you choice. No it's not required. I just fine in closets and small cabinets it works very well.

Here are the pics of the fan going in. Notice the use of materials already lying around the house (dryer hose, window screen, and sink disposer cap). Goes nicely with the free wood taken from pallets. Hole was cut on the bottom left side to accommodate my closet. Urerthane coating was applied after pics and further sanded down to feel like a baby's bottom.

All that is left to really do is the top vent and odor control. The inside will then be lined (found some stuff in garage that will work like the foam) to look more flush and then topped with mylar. Going to install brass hindges on door, too.

What do you guys think so far?

To seal light leaks around hinges on doors you can staple pond liner in strips on the door and the sidewall. Make it protrude a little inside like a U and that will stop the light leak from side door cracks.
