We still liberated a ton of people from an opressive government, and now we're letting the people rule themselves, instead of always being in fear. So even if our original reasons for going in were completely false (which might not be true, saddam definatly did have connections with osama, maybe not with 9/11 but he did fund terrorists. if you deny that you've GOT to be stupid. look at how many terrorists are in iraq right now attacking US soldiers and iraqis? that just points out terrorists are connected to saddam), we still justify the invasion by helping all those people out.
I see your point but i dont think you're necessarily on target. Most of those people that were liberated are dead now. You ever seen what iraq or afghanistan looked like before the invasion? Sure they werent paradises in the sand but things sure looked a whole lot better and alot more people were able to go into the streets. Suicide bombing occured yes. BUT it's a lot worse now.

I dont know 100% if saddam funded terrorists or not. But i do know that most of the terorists in iraq now are foreigners from syria and tehran and so forth. even kuwaitis are fighting. Now you've got to think, alot of top generals stated that for every one terrorist killed three more pop up. mostly for revenge if anything.

The "election" was a sham. the interim government put in place stated themselves that a new election process would have to occur once occupying forces leave. You think the once sunni majority rule being shifted was on occasion? They were intentionally ousted so that there would be a rift between the two sides sunni and...aw fuck im high so i cant remember the other faction at the moment...someone help me out. Hence the danger of civil war people dont like to talk about.

Lastly, I cant agee on your arguement of the invasion being justified because people were liberated. You and i both know that a more diplomatic way could have been done. We were lied to. That's wrong Plain and simple. It's a total slap in the face of what we were taught to believe in when we were kids. Im 20 so im not a veteran or anything but that shows you how far we've slumped in less than three decades.

There's no justification for marring what we believe and stand for in the name of expanding that idealism. Otherwise what's the point?
