Hello,

laura - I would think that you are going to have a bit of work ahead of you. Shaggzx is correct in saying that you will need a spot that allows for direct sun for most of the day.

Along with that factor you will have to consider the quality of your soil. More often then not natural soil does not have enough built up nutrients to sustain a plant throughout its growth and budding cycles. You will probably want to dig out a nice sized whole and then refill it with store bought soil along with whatever amendments you decide to add (perlite, vermiculite, bone meal, blood meal, lime, etc.).

Using bone and blood meal will attract insects and such. You may also want to get some kind of repelent for animals so that they do not come up and eat your crop. Many people use cyote urine, and spray it around their grow. This keeps all animals away. You can also lay out a circle of epsom salt around your plant to detour slugs and some other insects.

You will need to use nutrients of some sort, I would use Advanced Nutrients outdoor nutrients, but look around and find what is best for you.

I hope this helps.

Just let me know if I can help out with anything else.

Take care

Peace
