If it were not for the American attitude towards weed Canada would have legalized it by now but anytime Canada attempts to legalize or decriminalize it the Americans go nuts and Canada is forced to retreat.

I believe the biggest thing is to have weed\hash or natural growing items like mushrooms seperated from the Drug category. A great line I heard in chat one day was "I don't do drugs, I smoke weed" and I thought that was a perfect saying. Now if we can only get that message across only then the laws will change.
