I was just doing some brainstorming while really high last night and I came up with an idea that at the very least is a fair way to treat Marijuana on both sides of the spectrum.

Basially it is the law regarding Marijuana. I always figure the key is for everything to connect, and for it to all make sense, and I think that I did just that.

-Marijuana could be cultivated and consumed by person's over the age of 21
-The amount that a single person grows is restricted
-Selling Marijuana is illegal, especially to teens
-Marijuana could only be used on one's own property and in designated areas
-The distribution of small quantities of Marijuana among persons over 21 is perfectly legal, so long as no profit is involved

Basically what I think this does is completely eliminate the trend of marijuana dealing, since most people will be able to get it for free. At that point, the only real reason to deal would be to little kids, however, few will consider that to even be worth it, and even fewer will take the risk since it would be highly punishable.

With these, not only would the problem of Marijuana bringing in unmarked revenues be solved, but I also think that this way MJ would be an "adult thing", and that not as many kids will use it. At worst, it would be like alcohol, which ain't too bad.

Maybe I'm still way too high from last night an my head is just a mess, but just let me know what you think.

Not everyone is going to want/be able to grow their own marijuana when there will still be people selling it. People wouldn't be bothered with the hassle and patience required to grow and harvest a full plant and would probably much rather buy weed instead anyway, even if growing is legal.
Add a restriction to growing and most likely cannabis would just die out if people weren't still dealing, selling and thus, still breaking the law.

Sorry to shit on your theory , I thought of a similar one myself but found too many holes. I think we're pretty lucky to have cannabis culture the way it is now, so long as you can forget the risk tax and freedom issues.

Button Basher, but I thought about that. You don't seem to understand that yea, maybe not everyone will want to bother growing it, but just the fact that doing that would be legal, would mean that many people will. Marijuana will be passed around for free, and when you have a friend who can hook you up with some whenever you need it (or even several), not many people will see the need to buy it. Trust me man, if it's the way that I described it, there won't be many people selling it, and the few who are would be liable to a pentaly under the law.

You really don't need to tell me that. I smoke joints walking down the streets in this city. Anywhere. Anytime. I'm just suggesting a theory of a law system for MJ that IMO makes a lot of sense.

What you need to remember is that us potheads are lazy fuckers. We wanttr o BUY our draw, niot fucking grow it. Pass that law, and it wont make a difference, people would call up their dealer all like "yo man, i dont wanna grow, can u set me a bens" and presto, no need to start a fucking thriving greenahouyse or whatever.

Ya but dude, as a pothead yourself, when your friends will have ounces and pounds of weed because they grow or they know somebody who grows, are you really gonna be paying for it? I know I won't, and I don't think you would either. It's not like potheads don't have friends who are like them. And if I became a politician I sure wouldn't be an old and greasy one.

I believe should be ok to grow it give it away etc. Kinda like sex...you can give it away but not sell it.
