To upload an avatar you'll need to click User CP (top left side nxt to FAQ, Members List, Chat etc.)

Settings & Options, then Edit Avatar, click Browse and upload from your computer.
The images must be 100 x 100 pixels or less, google for good sites or borrow from other forums
