help me start out!
hello folks. read around on the forums for a while. and been smoking for near 7 years now im getting tired of the whole black market deal to get ahold of pot. and the outrageous prices people in my area charge. ive decided to grow a few small plants to supply myself. so i went and bought a book (The Cannabis Growers Bible) and signed up for the forums for some personalized help along the way. all help is greatly appreciated.
my growing spot is about 2'x3'. in the corner of my closet. im not looking to grow more than 3 or 4 small plants at a time. the walls are painted flat white. ive read this is one of the best colors they can be. will this do or should i find something more reflective?
im planning on buying a 400watt HPS light monday, as well as a internally cooled ballast to go along with it. will this be enough bulb for my plans or should i go to the 600 watt?
ive sprouted about 10 seeds from my last sack using the wet paper towel and baggy method. they just started to crack open and sprout. im guessing theyll be ready to plant in a day or two. so i went and got soil and pots today. 4 - 6" pots to start them out.
question about soil though. i bought miracle grow moisture control potting mix. has a 18:10:10 mixture in it. i did notice though after getting home and reading the back of the bag thouroughly, that it has no mention of potassium. says its nitrogen: phosphate: potash . is potash some gardening slang for potassium or did i get the wrong stuff? they are also coated in some kind of slow release coating. .18% for nitrogen, .10% for potash and phosphate. will this soil be good for my plants till theyre transplanted? if not, what specifically would be the best to get?
also, what would be the best soil to transplant them in to? a high nitrogen content like i bought or an even ratio? such as 10:10:10?
finally, as of now i was planning on keeping them on a 24/0 schedule. but im thinking a 18/6 schedule may be better for me being a first time grower and not really wanting them to get huge. what would you recomend me doing?
thanks for reading!. any and all help is greatly appreciated.SmokinStang96 Reviewed by SmokinStang96 on . help me start out! hello folks. read around on the forums for a while. and been smoking for near 7 years now im getting tired of the whole black market deal to get ahold of pot. and the outrageous prices people in my area charge. ive decided to grow a few small plants to supply myself. so i went and bought a book (The Cannabis Growers Bible) and signed up for the forums for some personalized help along the way. all help is greatly appreciated. my growing spot is about 2'x3'. in the corner of my closet. im not Rating: 5Fire in the Bowl!

The 400 watt should be fine. But one thing i do see is you better get those seeds in so so quick for one they hate light and for two never let those roots get that long especially like the one you have with long root. They say plant them as soon as you see the root crack from the seed. And again get them out of the light.Good luck and everything else sounds fine.
