My buddies were smoking opium last night. When they passed the bowl to me i was like "get that shit out of my face." Opium comes from poppy. So fuck opium cause herion also comes from poppy. What exactly does opium do to you? What are the side effects? I read that it is nearly as bad as herion. I wont even try shrooms. I stick to only pot. Fuck acid, shrooms and opium. Those drugs can ruin your life.

Another text book example of an ignorant pot head who'll believe marijuana isn't bad because all the cool kids are smoking it, yet accept the other bullshit people say about other drugs. No doubt drugs can ruin your life, if not used properly and the same goes for cannabis.
Now if you don't like or use other drugs all the power to you, but all drugs deserve respect as it is respect that prevents abuse.
Opium comes from poppies, Papaver Somniferum, the latex resulted from scratching the pods is rich in morphine, codeine, thebaine and papaverine. These are all opiates and among the best pain killers known to man.
Smoked opium will likely sedate you and put you in a floaty dream world. It takes repeated smoking sessions for several days in a row to develop any addiction to opium and the current availability and value of opium makes this even more difficult.
Heroin is made by extracting the morphine from opium and reacting it with acetic anhydride, the chemical name for the resulting substance is diacetylmorphine.
The addition of the two acetyl groups make it easier for heroin to cross the blood brain barrier, it is then broken down to morphine again in the brain.
Even heroin requires up to two weeks of consecutive use before physical addiction manifests.

I dont care about opium though cause i aint ever gonna use it. Half the reason pot is illegal is becauseof other drugs. The government believes pot leads to other drugs (which is true sometimes). If nothing but pot were to exist (no other drugs at all!) than i bet there would be a better chance it would be legal in the US. Im sure smokin opium once in a while isnt that bad but i say fuck opium.

opium is awesome. it tastes so sweet and gives you a really good high. ive smoked it on many occasions and have never had any bad side affects or cravings. it usually puts u to sleep if u smoke enough.

I've done opiated weed and hash, and it was awesone. Clearly you got to be carefull because the feeling is so addicting .... Comfortably numb.

The way I see it pot is illegal because hemp was a threat to lumber and textile industries.
In fact the term 'marijuana' was never used in the US prior to the early 1900s when a man named William Randolph Hearst, who happened to own the majority of the media, started sensationalizing stories of how mexican immigrants smoked this evil 'marijuana' and went on murder rampages. According to Harry Anslinger marijuana was much worse than cocaine and heroin and even caused African americans to become insulant and step on white mens shadows.
In short the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 was passed to protect the interests of lumber giant Dupont and newspaper king Hearst. Incase you didn't know an acre of hemp can produce as much paper as four acres of trees and has thousands of other commerical uses. The Marijuana Tax Act was later found unconstitutional thanks to LSD guru Timothy Leary, in response congress passed the Controlled Substances Act 1969.

I respect your choices and opinions. Alcohol almost ruined my life, but I've got that under control. I believe that it's different for each person. Your buddies should respect your choices.

shut up, you little kid. You obviously don't know anything. I'm not saying you should have puffed on it, but you need to keep your mouth firmly shut concerning matters that you have no idea of.
