    Thought.

When (if) mankind ever truely discovers the answer to the question of whether there is some kind of god or not, and we finally know which, if any, of the religions are right, I think we'll then shrug our shoulders and say "Now what?". Whatever way you look at it, it won't actually make the slightest bit of difference to our lives. I mean, if you think about when people are having a conversation and somebody says something that another person disagrees with and neither of them will admit they're wrong until one person is proved right, but when either party is proved right both parties then just forget about it - this is what will happen. We'll go on about our normal lives - alot of people will undoubtedly try and change the way the world is run because of it, but in the end life on Earth with settle back down to a slow amble. It'll be like the moment a kid opens his Christmas presents early on Chrisdtmas morning - he's been waiting and anticipating this moment for weeks and when the moment finally passes he's already looking forward to next year.

You could say that this discovery, from both perspectives, could help to stop alot of fighting and war all over the planet, but really alot of people don't like to backdown, so even if it turned out that the Christian idea of what and who god is was right, and that everything they had been saying was true, there would still be millions of people of other faiths who still stick to their beliefs despite the proof. By the way, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying any of this is going to happen... i'm just very stoned and rambling on but it's cool, I think I can remember my point.

So, if you take all this in to consideration, what is the point in arguing about who's right or who's not? Who cares about the answer when the question doesn't matter? Why can't we all just accept that we're all going to have different views on squillions of things, so we should all just chill and not stress so much.

That is so true...To me religion is just a way for people to follow something in their lives. But what if at the end, whatever happens to you after you die is based on your judgements and thoughts as to what it would be like...I mean I believe there is something else after I die...but a lot of people may disagree. But look at it this way...when you were a foetus, in your mothers womb...you were probably thinking...'this is it, this is my life, there is nothing else after this',..but then you are born...what if this life is just another stage and there is 'stage 3'? Weird

well try to think of it this way.......wot was your earliest childhood memory? i can probably remember as far back as deff 5 maybe 4, but i can't remember shit wen i was 1 or 2, even b4 i was born, so i rekon that when you die, t's gunna be like how we all begun, without knowing anything.

and prove me wrong but ya never kno, bcoz of all of us being bought up with a new life and not remembering your past from the beginning, how do you know that you aren't jus living as someone else, ya kno like died and then lived in a womb?

Intersting though, GHoST, but your initial statements are somewhat flawed, IMHO. You said what if we prove god's existence, and one of the major religions turns out to be right.

Well, I think that if we ever prove that there's some superior being to humanity, and I don't think that's completely inconceivable, there will be absolutely no way to comprehend it, and we will not realize that one particualr religion is right and all the others wrong, but rather we will discover that ALL religions are both wrong and right at the same time. Of this, I am positive.

We will all agree that we have a limited capacity to understand other human beings, let alone something superior to us. Therefore it would be completely impossible to even begin to understand the purpose, the thought process, or even the possible manifestations of such a being. God is beyond comprehension, and almost nobody understands that.

Once the existence of god is hypothetically proven, we will also realize that each religion probably had some tiny aspect of the truth buried in its lore. Because when you think about all the religions comparatively, there are more similarities than differences. God, Allah, Yahweh, Jehova, Jupiter, Zeus, Buddha, Jesus, and all the other names given to god will probably turn out to be one and the same entity.

This would probably cause a period of war the likes of which have never been seen. Just based on my knowlege of human nature.
