Sounds like you miss the idea of her more than you actually miss her. I was together with a girl for 6 years. I was sent overseas for a year and shortly before I was about to leave she said she didn't want to wait for me to get back and wanted to end our relationship. I was crushed at first and the couple of months before I left were terrible. Once I got to the new country and started to meet new people, however, I soon realized I didn't miss her anymore. Looking back on it I can see we stayed together for so long more out of habit than anything else. Our relationship simply wasn't meant to be.

Since then I've met a wonderful woman who I love very much. We just recently celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary and will soon celebrate our daughters 2nd birthday. I couldn't be happier. The first year of our relationship was pretty tough though as we were separated by a 10hr plane trip and didn't see each other for 6 months. As tough as it was we worked through it because our relationship WAS meant to be.

So, like I was when my old girlfriend first broke up with me, you are feeling very hurt, depressed, and confused. But, like I di, and others have said, you'll get over it an move on. Your relationship with that girl wasn't meant to be. You'll know when you find one that is. Hang tough until then.
