The problem is that this is what most people outside of the South think of when they see a confederate flag. Whether or not it is actually a symbol of racism, it's use by groups such as the KKk have caused many to beleive it is.

I do support thier right to fly the flag if they wish just as I support the right to burn the flag of the United States. I would never burn a U.S. flag as I consider it extremely poor taste to desecrate something so many hold sacred. I consider it equal poor taste to display something so many associate with racism. But hey, the Constitution grants us the right to be an asshole and a lot of people choose to exercise that right.

One thing I don't get, why do people want to celebrate their confederate heritage anyway? Take away the whole slavery/ racism aspect and your still left with a group who wanted to break from the United States-not too patriotic if you ask me. Plus, when all was said and done they were LOSERS.
