Upside down plants ?

I saw an advertisement for a hanging tomato garden in which the plants grow down from the bottom of the pot. Nutrient solution is added to the top.

Has anyone tried this with buds? I may just to see if THC drains down (doubt it, but who knows until you try) or if the drooping heavy bud syndrome is eliminated.

Just curious about your results. Did you have to smoke it upside down to get the best results?

all the plant's water and nutrient solution would quickly find its way to the top of the plant, to the bud and all...rather that's beneficial or not, i'll probably never know unless you try it...what about the soil, how do you keep it from falling out? it seems rather unorthodox, but hell it's the weird ass methods that seem to really work

it won't have very good effects actually. the roots will stay near the bottom of the soil or.. the top for the plant.. since you're watering it from the top..which is the bottom.. the nutrients will not be absorbed faster.. as this is based on ph,toxicity and root developement. gravity has no effects on how fast nutrients or water are absorbed into the plant.

the whole idea seems kinda back asswards to me :P

There is one system (it's big bucks too) that has a single 1000w HPS bulb. The plants turn around the bulb like on a Ferris wheel. When they reach the bottom they get a drink. It turns very slowly and yes the plants at the top are upside down. I hear it does work. They grow like 60-100 plants with a single bulb. There is a version that has 2 bulbs end to end as well.

riiiight, that would be some expensive and crazy shit to do, i'm sure it would have great results, but how much greater would it be than just growing a plant the tried and tested way?

i found two different systems like the rotating one, roto grow and omega garden, they are expensive though. i had a friend who said he tried one plant for fun in the upside down hanging bucket, he said it was cool and a novelty because the branches turned and twisted up around the bucket, but no extra production or anything. he started it right side up in a 5 gallon bucket then turned it upside down once the plant was big enough.

I haven't thought about trying it with weed, but my wife is legitimately using one for her tomatoes.

Go to the Mass Museum of Contemporary Art [Mass MoCA]... they have a bunch of maple trees hanging upside down along the entrance walk.
