That's a ballast kit (no idea if it's compatible), 400 watt gavita, and mylar. This is for my 3'x3'x8' closet for 2-3 4' northern lights. if im gonna put mylar on the floor should i put anything over it for spills and such or would that affect the light reflection?

400w in that space will be fine

Home depot has soil that is for seedlings, Scotts makes it I think. They also have a soil high in "P" that gets roots going.

Or just by good soil for around $3.00+ a bag

HD has soil by "Earthgrow" Do not by that cheap shit.

Miracle gro seed starting mix will grow it good for a while. Mix with half perlite if indoors to aid it in drying out quicker and getting more oxygen to the roots. If outdoors I would cover thedark soil up with the white perlite and use light colored pot. The sun will cook the roots easily if it really gets hot. Fish emulsion fertilizer from the home depot is some good organic stuff so you dont smoke chemicals. The ones in the potting mix will be long gone by bud time.

Get a book....the first thing you should spend money on is a good book like "Indoor Marijuana Horticulture the indoor Bible by Jorge Cervantes. Miracle grow is not for growing this type of plant and the success rate is only about 50/50 with relative yield using that crap.
