Doesn't anybody see that people are always complaing that <insert type of music they like> isn't as good as it used to be. Just as people are always complaing that kids have never been as <badly behaved/disrespectful/evil> as they are now, or that the world has never been in such a bad state as it is now. There are tons of good rock bands around. When the kids of today grow up they'll be saying exactly what you're saying now, and they'll be pining for the music that they use to listen to 'back in the day'. You just gotta be more open-minded.

I agree to an extent. I think people will always dislike what the next generation listens to just because they grow acustomed to their own generation, and the previous generations music. They learn to like what they know, and when they hear new unknown things, they will tend to dislike it. I however think that we are experiencing more than simple changes in tastes. In recent years mass media has played more and more of a roll in dictating what we listen to. The fact that someone said there was no good rock on MTV or the radio just goes to show, how dependent we are on mass media to tell us what to listen to. This dependency has lead to the gradual decline in the quality of popular music. Meaning, though there was, is, and always will be good music, reguardless of whether it is of a styling that I enjoy, there is a general tendency because of mass media for the popular music to degenerate into meaningless, tasteless garbage.

Its All Because Of The Commercialization Of All Music. Bg music companies are just out to make money these days. They go out looking for some sucker who has minimal if no musical ability and dress em all nice so they look good to the mtv audiences, then they bring in some guys to make a beat or to write a hit song next thing u kno u got another poser band on the top of the billboard charts. I cant even listen to new music. The only radio station i can listen to is the classc rock station where they play Led Zepplin and pink floyd and The Doors and Janis Joplin. Practiacally the only music i can listen to now is classic rock, Reggae, or my favorite band sublime. I wanna hear some original new music but all of todays bands sound exactly the same to me. Like Crap!!!!!!

well a perfect circle is as good if not better than tool. Yeah, i usually listen to the classic rock station around here or sometimes alternative. I have one friend who's really into hip-hop that kinda got me into the grave diggas and a tribe called quest. Hip-hop is great when your rocking the bong. I also like the album Homework by Daft Punk, it's fun for partying. The only really solid rock bands being played in the mainstream media right now are Audioslave and Queens Of The Stone Age. Songs for the deaf is an awsome album. Rock and Roll has certainly reached a new low, but there's definitly hope. All this new shit is so 1 dimensional. Ppl will get sick of it. Rock will be music's saviour.
