Braces!

I just got braces today, and I was wondering is it really bad to smoke cigarettes and weed during treatment? I'm gonna have them on for about 24 months. The orthodontist made a big point about telling me to not eat sweets and chewy or hard foods, and thats no problem for me, but I was too embarassed to let her know that I smoke. She showed a video about how to take care of braces, and all it said about smoking was "of course, smoking is disastrous" but they didnt explain. I guess its because the video was geared towards children/teenagers who are probably not very likely to smoke in the first place.

They say chill with the candy/chewy/hard foods because it can actually damage the braces. The "disasterous" results with smoking are in referance to teeth discoloration. When you get your braces removed, the little square spots where they glue the braces to your teeth will be less discolored than the non glued spots. If you take special care and brush well, you will have even colored teeth. If not, its gonna be ugly. So to answer your question weed will be fine, when you smoke cigs just remember too clean your teeth well.
