oh i hear ya man...i totally believe that the armed forces should be and always stay a choice. recruitment is down but its not down to the point of running out of soldiers. the IRR is still sort of a "backdoor draft" in terms since these soldiers filled their "active" TOS (term of service) but they still have on average about 5 years to finish "inactive". So for a soldier who is on his 4th year of IRR, if would really suck to be called back up for duty. But in reality the majority of what the military is missing are certain MOS's lets just say for example MP's, infantry, Transportation, etc. So that would limit who they can pull from the IRR to fill those spots.
I think if the military ever brought the draft back that they would have an even bigger problem on their hands with soldier's acting negatively, and in the long run it would cause more problems than good.
makor01 Reviewed by makor01 on . Will the DRAFT return? When the Pentagon releases its May recruiting figures Friday, the numbers are expected to show a continuing decline in those signing up for the Army and Marine Corps. If that downward trend continues, the specter of a military draft to fill the ranks with able bodies is likely to loom large in Washington once again. Thats coming straight from the official Military.com website not a so called "leftest doom as gloom" site. Rating: 5
