Is there a reason why or is it just traditional?

Also, for Scottish, Welsh and whatever you call yourselves in Northern Ireland (Northern Irish?) would you rather be British or Scottish etc..?

I'm English. I've never met an Irish person but I've met plenty of Welsh and Scottish people and we got along fine. My uncle is Scottish and he's a great fella, every other Scottish person I've met has been really nice too.

I don't think they really hate English people, but if you get them started I'm sure they could complain about us for a long time, just like loads of English people don't like French people for some reason.

I believe that the reason is that they are still suffering under British rule...when will they ever finally be free ? I say : Free Ireland ! Free Scotland ! Free the Welsh ! Cast off the yoke of the Brit's ! America did..they can too !

All of this talk about the 5 countrys hating each other! (Eng, Scot, Wales, NI, Eire), is TRUE to some extent, BUT nowadays the culture is totally mixed compared to times of old! This is the reason why REGIONAL Accents are slowly fizzling out!!!

WE MIGHT WELL SAY WE HATE EACH OTHER, but with 99.9% of people we couldn't really care less!!!

I'm Irish and even though I know the stupidity of such feelings, I still despice the English a lil bit. Throughout history, they have tried to make the Irish stupid (making it illegal to educate them in Ireland or anywhere else) and obedient despite their cruelty. Granted, that doesn't happen much today, but Ireland still suffers because of it.

yeah here in northern ireland we just call ourselves NORTHERN Irish. A lot of people get offended if u say they r irish and not NORTHERN Irish. i dont care tho, u cud call me irish but im from northern ireland.
