Ok, if you are having problems sleeping the MOST important thing to start getting good nights of sleep is routine. I hate routines personally and would rather go without sleep than start one, but... things like having the same cd mix for when you go to sleep, or have a bit to eat, grab a drink, read for 15 min and then kill the lights. Who knows, whatever works for you. Pills are bad news but you know that already. If you keep having problems sleeping, just plan for less sleep. Maybe your body is telling you, I don't want to rest I want to go. So... stay up an extra hour, if your just going to toss and turn for an hour, why not do something constructive instead. Just some thoughts. I would talk to a doctor, just to get another opinion. Hypnothearopy may be a worthwhile route as well. As would a couple meetings with a psychiatrist (I think everyone one should take a couple visits every few years, just for good measure). My psychiatrist helped me with sleep when I was in high school, with the whole routine thing, helped me find things that worked for me. Anyways good luck, and watch out for those pills.
