For the Dead Heads on the board, or anyone who wants to hear some really good music to chill out with after getting nice and blazed.

Some of you may already know this, but for those that don't: back in 1968 the rest of the band voted Bob and Pigpen out of the band. Instead of simply playing as the Grateful Dead without them , however, they did a few shows billed as Mickey and the Hartbeats. After 3-4 shows Bob and Pig were back in the band and the Hartbeats were no more. The music played at those few shows was really great though. Not a lot of lyrics but some great jams built around what they were playing at the time (Dark Star, Other One, etc).

I had known about these shows but didn't now until recently that most were available on the Internet Archive. Last night I got really baked and put on the show from 10/30/68 and was totally blown away. I think this will definitely become my all time favorite to listen to while stoned. So, if your in to the Dead you owe it to yourself to smoke a bowl and give this a listen. here's a link to the show:
