i found this on aol.....(sorry if this has been posted befoer, but i didnt see it

    a stinging defeat it is...

"Federal authorities may prosecute sick people whose doctors prescribe marijuana to ease pain, the Supreme Court ruled Monday, concluding that state laws don't protect users from a federal ban on the drug.

The decision is a stinging defeat for marijuana advocates who had successfully pushed 10 states to allow the drug's use to treat various illnesses."

this is some bullshit. honestly, this now makes me want to join the fight to legalize marijuana. i;ve been too lazy before.

if you look at the polls though, i think it is loud and clear that the majority of people want some legal form of marijuana, whethere medicinal or recreational. 80% of the voters did not agree with the ruling, and 83% of the 29,961 voters at that moment believed that federal laws should be changed to allow marijuana for medicinal purposes.

supreme court rules AGAINST medicinal marijuana

This another example of the Federal government putting ideology before science. Here we are, our tax dollars being wasted on a case asking whether or not people should be allowed to smoke a plant to ease their pain in a way that no other drug can. Do we really need the Supreme Court for this one? As Yoda said, the American people firmly believe in the use of marijuana as a medicine. Everybody needs to contact their members of Congress and let them know how important this issue is to them. Remember, this ruling not only hurts the medicinal marijuana movement, but the entire legalization effort as a whole. This is huge, guys, and we the people need to do something about it.

Makes you think we need a revolution, and entirely new type of government for America (and Canada while I'm at it). Perhapse some sort of... democratic institution... yes, that's it! we'll hold a revolution for a new form of government ruled by popular opinion of the people! hahaha, me and me wacky concepts, those crazy republicans would have a field day with me.

I'm liberal and support the legalization of marijuana. But I also agree with the Supreme Court on this decision.

The issue wasn't whether or not medical marijuana (or any marijuana) should be legal. It was about whether or not federal authorities could prosecute users of medical marijuana, even if medical marijuana is legal in their home state.

Personally, I don't think that should be the case, but it is the law. The federal government, for idiotic reasons, has made herb illegal and those laws supercede any state laws to the contrary, whether you agree with it or not. The Supreme Court did exactly what they were supposed to do, which is uphold the law.

The laws should definitely be changed though. As should a few members of the Supreme Court but that's another conversation.

you make great points. im guessing the only thing that we can do now though is push to change the laws. if the supreme court ruled against because of set rules, then those laws ought be fought against.

theres only one thing why marihuana is illegal, and that is because it affects way too many interests...
For example what really important papaer of the US was made of hemp... so there the marihuana legalized would affect really bad all the paper business, and the cigarrette business, and the alcohol business, and the PHARMASEUTICAL business, and many many more.....

Now the entire world is experiencing one of the biggest acts of courruption, its clear how the supreme court or any court would do anything for money, as the old romans said "everyone has their price" the Phamraseutical business must not let the marihuana be legal, otherwise who the fuck would buy any pain killer pill? or tons of other medicaments...??? WHO????

which is why i'm an avid supporter of states' rights, nullification, and secession. My state of Colorado voted democratically to allow for medical marijuana. Rather than just give in to the feds, a state should wantonly defy the supreme court and nullify the court decision, and perhaps write letters of marque to citizens and local authorities to beat the fuck out of DEA fascists.

The purpose of the Supreme Court is to determine if an existing law should even be there in the first place. According to the tenth amendment, things such as marijauana should be left up to the states. Republicans of course will say they're for states' rights, but both parties all try to make the federal bolshevic government even more powerful.
