Hi all... as an occasional dope muncher (I don't smoke), you can imagine my expression when driving through france last year I drove past 2 entire fields of cannabis! (ever seen "The beach" where they find the field - it was the same as that only the fields were bigger) Anyway, just to satisfy my curiosity I took a small sample - about a carrier bag full After having been stopped at customs coming back, but fortunately they didn't find the bag even though it stunk to high heaven, I got back home and emptied it into a box in the greenhouse to dry the leaves off - there was also lots of seeds.
Anyway to cut a long story short the "cannabis" turned out to be hemp (I presume since it had no effect when a friend tried smoking it) - in dismay the leaves got binned and I thought that was it, however one of the seeds must of fallen out of the box because I am now the proud of owner of one very healthy 2m tall plant in the greenhouse. After all the above ramble, my simple question is this, "is there a way to make the leaves eatable/smokable?" Also, since I don't if the plant is a male or a female - is there any way of propagating it to make some more next year (softwood cuttings seem to be the best option) - but any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

As I said, the bag stunk - I got married last year and were on honeymoon, driving round europe for a few weeks. Fortunately it was when were nearly back otherwise the leaves would have gone soggy with the heat in the carrier bag. As it was, I had to drive with the windows down during the day, and leave the bag outside the car at night so the smell didn't build up overnight. As it was I double bagged it the morning we were due to come back (channel tunnel) and pushed it behind the suitcase in the boot - not really hidden, but equally not on direct view. Having gone around the whole of europe without even been asked for our passports (just bought a new jag sovereign - they don't generally piss about with people who look like they may cause them trouble) I thought we stood a good chance of just driving onto the train - but would you believe it they asked me to get out of the car and open the boot. I thought the game was up, but tried to play it cool. All they did was have a quick poke around near the front of the boot and waved me on - as they say I found out that addrenaline really is brown...
Your reply however makes me think hemp can be smoked/eaten - if so any thoughts would be appreciated

    Thanks
