First Grow, Help With Flowering Time

Well I have made it this far and things have gone pretty good.
Day 44 In Flowering on 12/12. 400 Watts Flour Tubes, Scotts Indoor Soil & 40% Perlite.

I need help knowing when to pick these buds. I have been looking at the trics with a 30x loop and they all still look pretty clear, not cloudy or amber yet. However, the hairs are a out 75-80% changed to red/brown. Do I pick yet or give it some more time. Fan leaves just started to turn yellow in the last 3-4 Days.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Harddon,

Is it typical for most of the hairs to brown up prior to the trics finishing up? Most of the are pretty clear yet, only a very very small percentage are cloudy and almost none are amber at this point, Any idea on how long I probably have yet. Some of the fan leaves are yellowing and I know that is typical in the last stages of flowering. Any more help would be great. Also, when do you harvest, What color percentages do you look for in the trics.

    Thanks for the help!

Ignore the hairs and the hair color.

The THC is found in the trichs and resin.

If a trich has turned amber, it has degraded into other cannibol byproducts. Don't let them turn majority amber...

If your fan leaves are now yellowing, i means the plant is drawing on the nitrogen from those leaves for the flowers.

Quite normal and a good thing even.

Look for 75% cloudy or cum colored trich heads.

Tuff to say how long to go, I didnt raise them. But by all sounds, it wont be long....to save you from hours of checking the plants all over, just pick the easiest bud you have access to with the scope.

Keep checking it daily. They will turn cloudy, thats the time.

    HAPPY CUM COLORED TRICH HUNTING...

Harvest, there's no reason why those fan leaves should be yellowing like that.. that strain is obviously in LATE flowering... Harvest. and Happy Smoking !

But... what is the strain? and what's the flowering time on it?

He said in his first post, day 44 of flower, on June 1.

    7 weeks....thats ALMOST enuff...

Don't harvest until the trichs turn....

At this point you could also...

Cut the lights to 10/14 and force the situaton.

But I would give it another week to turn cloudy for you....

    Patience.

    Follow those trichs...

Every plant is different, every strain is different, every grower is different.

Harvest when you want..not when anyone else says

that pretty much sums it up...

    but wait!

this is all about experience and art of the grow, yes???

You are at a perfect oppty. to test the best of both ways...

Snip a couple of buds NOW and then do the rest when they get cloudy.

Cure them the same identical way and then later on, do a smoke test.

    Clear trichs and cloudy trichs.

    See which you prefer....

Great oppty to discover both sides...

Fan leafs almost always turn yellow and die off the plant is through with them and uses up the nutrients stored there. It's ok late in flower there is nothing wrong. Only the trichomes will tell you when the proper time to harvest is. The colors of the hairs are only part of the cycle of the plants life. They change color by temperature and maturity at the end of their life cycle. The only true way to know when to harvest is to view the trichomes with a 10x to 30x microscope. Mature trichome looks like a golf ball sitting on golf tee, big and round on the top. The color is clear to cloudy. Cloudy is peak for that trichome. Because there are millions of trichomes you need to harvest on the average. They will continue to mature through the drying process for a day or more. Amber color is past prime for that trichome so you are just looking for an average.
