The coolness condenses the smoke, basically concentrating it. You can suck in a whole lot more smoke that non-cooled smoke. It expands from it's condensed state in your lungs, instead of harshing your throat all the way down. Throw your bowl in the freezer every now and then, that's good too.

It's actually best to tip the bong up when you are clearing it (when doing the ice idea). Some of the condensed smoke will be heavier than the lower pressure air and sit in the bottom of the bong... just give er a tippin and it will flow with a viscocity similar to water

Three university friends came over, and we smoked 4g of it over about 4 hours. Moderate smokers, we were suprised at our ability to take monster hits, as the smoke felt like cool vapor; even smoother than a menthol cigarette. What do you guys think? dont do this with glass, itl shatter though. I almost did it, and then Im like fuck, bad idea. but acrylic would work well. and there is ice bongs with water and then the stem twists so you can put ice cubes in it

Acrylic is the only way to fly, man. But, theoretically speaking, most bubs are made from thin, cheap glass. If you've got a PYREX, however, it may be freezable without risk.

My friend made this one for me, and she said they're like 35 bucks. I wouldn't pay for it, but it does work quite well. And the stem was only so big, that ice must have done a great fucking job of cutting the harshness down to nothing. I wish there was a way to smoke cool misty vapor like a J. Vaporizers aern't traditional smoking, so this felt like it had absolutely no pain, and I took monster fucking rips.

Hmm... doesn't smell as strong, eh? Seems like maybe the smoke was cool and dense enough that it was denser than air and just tended to hug the ground a bit more than normal rather than diffusing into the air like the sweet perfume it is.

As to the whole expanding in your lungs thing, that seems kinda sketch. More likely, it doesn't hurt as much because YOU'RE NOT INHALING THREE HUNDRED DEGREE BURNING ASH AND TAR like you are with a pipe; thus, ice hits tend to be a lot less irritating.

I've been leaving the bong in the freezer all the time now, so, whenever I want to hit it, it's ready. It's really helped out of lung capability.

This is something that, oddly enough, I hadn't thought of doing. I filled my bong with crushed ice this morning and stuck it in the coldest part of the freezer before I left for work. By the time I got back, it was frozen pretty nicely, and the bowl had a beautiful frost on it. I didn't bother to pour any water into it becuase I was afraid that it would freeze into a block, thus preventing a good draw, so I just hit it as is, and it was so smooth that it makes menthol taste like car exhaust! I've seldom taken hits this big without my face turning red and my lungs nearly exploding. Shit, 1e64, thanks for this thread. Works like a charm. When my father gets home from teaching his summer course, he'll have to try it out!
