want to know what kind of bulb is this it says 250 watts I found it in one of my rental houses and if it is a good grow bulb where can i find a big enough socket that will burn it it won't fit into a grow shade i have.

should say somewhere. dont get a fixture before you know as different types need different ballasts. and is the socket much bigger than a regular bulb? if it isn't it is probably a sodium. and sodiums mean nothing to plants.

Looks to me like some of your former tennants were growing weed with a metal halide bulb.

Looks MH to me, but, you cant use it without the special ballast. Since new 250W MH bulbs are about $20.00, I'd toss it in the trash.

i killed myself due to lack of knowledge of grow lights and went to walmart and got 2 shit ge spot gros. i have them both on one plant. one is 125 watts the other is 75 watts. i will be getting an hps in 2 weeks so hope that solves the problem.
so far the plant *seems* healthy i started as a sprout in march and set it outside after the threat of frost but after i purchased the ge shit gros like a dummy brought it in the grow room. it has been there for almost a month but seems to be doing fine and healthy. will the hps be fine for vegging and flowering? and do you think the plant will be ok where it is until 2 weeks(when i get the hps)? also the plant already has white hairs 3 groups of them around the middle and almost the top part of the stem. is that too early? but looks good healthy and strong.
this is my first time growing indoors and thanks to a couple of dumbasses up the road who told me the best way was to use ge spot gros and now i know their full of shit.

yes it is a bit smaller but i believe the hps is like a long skinney bulb....i use 400 w mh and it looks alot like that bulb cept twice its size....and yea i dont think the hps would be a prob for both stages of life...i vegg with compact floros myself then switch to the mh.....i dunno bout the GE gro lights never heard of um....peace PPP

yes the bulb is too big it won't fit in any socket i have around here. doesn't look like it's burned out or anything i thought about rigging something and using it but i think i'll play it safe and get an hps.
checked on my baby today and she seems to be doing real good although i hope the ge spot gro lights don't hurt the harvest till i get a better light.

i wouldnt think it would hurt them but i do suggest a better light set up asap.....and nooooo dont rigg something up for that bulb....its obviously a metal halide....ur last tennates were proboly growing a little and disposed of some of the evidence quite poorly....but it could be dangerious to bulid something for that bulb unless u DO know exactly what ur doing....PEACE
