My Poem
Look at my life, feel my soul, an empty spot to be filled.
I stare at these fields, barren , snow covered, dead, as far as I can see is white. Suddenly, I feel small, lost in the hustle of life. Why am I here? Where's my nook, talent,a God given right. To know, grown, and have the American Dream. To be free to go where I choose, find where I belong. To make a change in the world and find closure. My eyes open and I puff away. Staring at this blanket of snow engulfing my world. With Spring comes life, the cycle begins again, and it will get warmer. Then it's my time to go and be free, fate will show the way. Then this dark, empty, painful, impurity will be taken off my soul. The burning, aching desire in me takes hold. I push it down so noone can see, but it lumps in my throat, and tries to make tears. Then anger drowns me. Screwing with my head. The media said I could be anything, but I can't. Propaganda so thick I can't breath, the lies they tell us to keep us in check. But I wasn't born rich, and my last names not great. I'm breaking the chains, rules, and testing fools, living life fullest. I wan't you to know there's more to me than you see, I'm not just a ditzy stoner. Someday I'll be accepted for me and not because they think I'm hot or want something. I realize my nose and ears are turning numb, the cold air's freezing. I wonder how long it would take to get hypothermia. And stay outside a little longer just to see how cold you can be. I go in and my son's running to me, he asks me where'd I'd been and tells me he missed me, and he loves me. I realize it's not my life it's his, he makes it so worthwhile. He trusts in me for support and care, and sometimes I fail. I learn from my mistakes, but sometimes it takes awhile. I made a difference in my childs heart. Helped him choose the path he'd go. And oneday he can be anything. With my help I'll lead him there. I'd sacrafice my life to give him everything I never had, to see him suffer no losses.
I watch him sleep and head to bed, trying to accept what's me. The snow is pure, the country's quiet, and I'm the proudest Mom you can be. I puff and lay, trying to think of something to dream. Maybe my fantasies will become reality. I doubt it, but I'll dream bigger tomorrow. If you feel like me, you're not alone. The one thing this cruel life can't make us do is give away our dreams. And remember, hopes, plans, dreams, and goals are always free. nuggetgirl Reviewed by nuggetgirl on .
