need help with my bubbler!!!

ok so i got a sherlock bubbler from this website called www.northwestglassart.com and ive had it for a while. Then like 2 months ago the female for the slide piece broke. so finally i get a new one and its a little to long...how would i be able to cut it down without breaking it??(its glass so i cant just chop it)

please respond, and any advice would help..

heat it and pull i suppose is the only ay i can think of, however this could be messy and fuck it up
