That light will work just fine for your space.

Even with air cooled hoods you could still have a heat proplem, window unit AC would fix that. Try a 600 w for that size space you will have less problems with heat.

    To much light?

It is possible to over light your plants.... it can also happen in nature at very high elevations... the plants will turn white/yellow... they loose their chlorophyl... it is different than necrosis, the plant will look healthy except the top will be white/yellow... the growth in this area (usualy just the top of the plant in indoor situations) will stop and will not continue until the light is reduced... when the light is raised/reduced the top will turn green again and growth will resume..

    You have 6.75 sq. ft.

At an optimal level of 7000 Lumens per sq ft.... you need 47,000 lumens.

Your HPS at 1000W will provide about 140,000 lumen at 2 feet.

I suppose that could be over kill but since you are talking HPS I dont think you have an issue.

I really think you should consider a 500W MH and 500W HPS combo unit though. Yes you can grow from start to finsih with HPS but I just don't believe it will bring out the full potential of the plants.

They need blue spectrum lighting and the HPS just doesnt deliver enough of it.

Anyhow, in the unlikely event it stresses your crops, raise the lights further away and you'll be fine.

    Just mine .02 for ya....

    # 1,000 watt AGROMAX METAL HALIDE High Output Horticultural Conversion bulb

    Do not get a 1000w

I have a 600w horti for a 15 sqft space and it is just about right, in fact I should of got a 400w instead but my original spot would have been fine for 600w but 1000w will be over kill. The 600w cost a little more than a 1000w but less heat and will be more then enough for you in that space

I have a 1000W... it's big, bright as hell, and hot. Add a "really" infront of all of those. My fairly well ventilated room (with carbon scrubber) sits between 90-100F.
