What is it with american teens and chugging cough medecine. I mean, over here (UK) if someone started saying that they were "tripping balls" after downing 2 bottles of calpol then theyd be laughed out of school. Anyone care to explain the appeal?

dextromethorphan (the cough medicine) is a chemical analogue of morphine...it was synthesized from morphine to have more cough-relieving effects than pain killer effects, and what they ended up with is a new dissociative on their hands...ever heard of ketamine, special k, kitty? it's classified in the same group of drugs as K...dissociative anaesthetic, but recreational users don't take enough of the dxm to have anaesthetic properties...it just makes you feel really disconnected, and some people have trippy experiences, higher doses can produce visuals in some people, colors blurring and trailing, hearing voices...it's a cool drug, but it's especially useful when you can't find any other drugs...and it's better to take the gelcapsules than to drink the cough syrup, all that sugar can mess up your kidneys in the cough syrup...and you have to find the kind that only has dxm, no other active ingredients...i recommend everyone try it at least once, 300 mg...most people take 600+ mg to "trip"...

what i was asking was is there any point in doing it? which i have my answer to, but also as a kind of statement against all the bloody threads on this site about it. Is it not possible to make a sticky thread about it in the "other physchotropics" section? I mean, i know there isnt anything similar for other drugs, but its geting a bit silly i went in that forum a couple of days ago and almost half of the active threads were about DXM, and most of them were saying the same things.

Unless the stuff is straight dextromethorophan, youre also ingesting whatever inactive ingredients that go with it...

Im like that too Ghostoker if I got no weed then I aint gettin high...

I mean I used to drink alot but I was an alcoholic and I really had to quit that so weed is like the number one high/outlet of that type for me..

I didn't spend alot of my young life getting high...I tried this and that but being high alot doesnt hold alot of appeal for me..most of my life was school,my friends on the block, and then later savin up for nice cars...have to admit I like the weed though...it heightens the senses and really shakes up the mental etch-a-sketch

I dunno I guess robo dxm whatever is sorta like a pocket high..a high that doesnt give you weed breath or alcohol breath its a sneaky pocket high I guess..never tried so I guess I shouldnt knock it but then again I haven't jumped off a high building for thrills either..

It's not just a "high." You're completely disassociated. Can you die and look at your body while floating in the air with marijuana? No.
