Often times, and more often than not, specimen validity is done on a separate panel altogether rather than on the 5/10 panel.
That was the case nearly a decade ago. But in recent years, "all-in-1" assays (in cassette, dip card, and EZCup configurations) have become widely used by the labs, particularly in non-DOT situations. These type of assays feature 5 (or ten) drug panels as well as the validity panels all in one kit, thus eliminating the need for any seperate assays to perform the integrity check. Largely due to the advent of these "all-in-1" kits and their relatively low cost (and getting lower), most DHHS-certified labs had made specimen integrity checks SOP in all urine drug tests.
