End of story. I wasn't talking about a street lamp I was referring to the fixture,mogul base,

a 65w cfl puts out roughly 4000 lumen, but your light spread is limited, the trick to using cfl's is to create an array of light not a beam. so in theory you need several all laying the same direction spaced out about 4inches apart, and also at an angle. this is why Y splitters kick butt! they will perfectly angle the bulb, cfl emit light from the sides.

if you were to use more than 1 65w cfl that would be too much unless your flowering. (they would get hot so you would need proper cooling just like an HPS)
so you get more bang for your buck using 4 24w. and you can put them much much closer. anything past 45w almost gets too hot for the whole reason why lots of people use cfl's

4 24w cfl's will give you roughly 7000 lumen, which would be a combined 96w (for 4 bulbs) a 4 pack of these is about 10 bucks

1 65w bulb 20 - 30 bucks with only 3000-4000 lumen

1 45w bulb spits out about 2400-3000 lumen 8-10 bucks each

then if you really want to go extreme cfl. check out SunGod Lights Mini-Lotus 125 Watt 9,500 Lumens $69.00

or go hardcore :chainsaw: with a 600 watt high output HPS bulb emits 90,000 lumens


ok anyhow. pick your poison and do research there is a ton of information about cfl growing with charts & light spectrums, homemade rigs... ect ect. , everyone's needs and grow space are different.

I come home with two new brand new CFL 4100k total 8200k
All happy since they have a medium base no need for no fittings,adapters
And all that other shit, just to find out that they don't function I plugged them in my
Cord just to look at them hang there no light.....I don't know why if there 120v I have a 150v max hold

its that simple, personally I stay away from the big bulb cfl's, they get hot and defeats the whole purpose of cfl growing, my light rig doesn't use anything higher than 45w mostly 24w

With was this thought I had

6500k Blue spectrum output, I figured since my girls are lacking light,
Instead of one bulb TWO wouldn't that give it a little help in growing taller,

Indosmoke - The 4100K on those lights, I believe, refers to the light spectrum, rather than the amount of light given off. 4100K is towards the "2600K color for flowering" that growdemon is trying to teach you about. There is no experimentation needed. Just buy the correct bulbs and save your money! The way you wrote it, as I quoted, makes it look like you are looking at these numbers as light given off, which can be seen as lumens on the box for the lights. Two 4100K spectrum lights are just that - two separate lights at the 4100K spectrum, not a combined 8200K spectrum light (which doesn't exist).

Check out the DIY and other Grow Log threads for lots of examples of CFL arrays that are very easy and inexpensive to make and wire.

vanity mirror light socket which is a strip that, holds 4 bulbs, you have to wire it up yourself
thin bendable roll of sheet metal I cut to make a reflector
chain & chain hooks
Y splitters
8 24w bulbs
1750 lumen each
2600k color spectrum for flower
6500k color spectrum for vegging

Nice setup, growdemon. Looks like one of those pre-fab "T5 Grow Kit" setups they sell, that you have made yourself for probably at least 1/3 the cost of the ones in-box! You should paint your black velvet Dia de Lose Muertos posters :smokin:
