Possible diluted drug test?

Smoked a small amount of marijuana (a few hits) each day for one week . Prior to that week I was completely clean. I then stopped smoking for 10 days before I was required to test for probation. I was testing clean on home test after one week from the last time I smoked. Day of test to be safe I mildly diluted myself. At 5:30 I drank 8 ounces of water and 4 ounces of milk, then consumed 4 more ounces of water every 15 minutes for one hour for a total of 24 ounces of water and 4 ounces of milk. I did not take vitamins or creatine as I assumed I was not consuming enough water to trigger a diluted test. I urinated twice prior to testing. Once at 6:45 then again at 7:15. The first time my urine was very yellow. The second time my urine was yellow but lighter then the first. I drank a small amount of water after each time I urinated. Im not sure how much additional water I drank but my guess is it was under 8 ounces. In total I consumed around 36 ounces of fluids in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I submitted my sample at 8:00 it was a very faint yellow. Is it possible that my test will come back diluted? Im 6'2, 195 lbs, fast metabolism, currently do not exercise, poor diet. Day of test I ate fried food and fast food. Thank You for your responses.

That would depend on what your S/G and creatinine levels were when the lab tests these two urine constituents. Creatinine and S/G checks have become lab SOP in recent years. The days of visual checks to determine overdiluted samples had gone the way of B/W television sets.

Thank you for your reply. I understand validity testing is standard procedure. I know any answer given would be only speculation. I guess what I was really trying to ask is in your opinion would the amount of fluids consumed (36 ounces) in the time frame they were consumed (1 hour 45 min) lower my S/G and creatinine levels enough to cause a diluted/invalid test. There would be no way of knowing this without knowing what your "baseline" creatinine and S/G levels were prior to diluting - and youre not going to know this either without testing your creatinine and S/G with a validity test kit. Without testing, all thats left is a bunch of guesswork. And around these parts, we have zero faith in guesswork and speculation, particularly when careers, families, and freedoms depend on the outcome of a drug test.

Burnt toast. I have a separate question hoping to benefit from your expertise.

I submitted a 10p Labcorp urine drug screen after 1 week of abstinence (prior use a 5-6 hits a week of strong gangja). The morning of the test I tested negative with a light line on an "at-home" drug test. This was the 2nd void after one glass of water and 1 cup of coffee. I thought I was in the clear. I had taken some creatine and multivitamins over the past few days. 1-2 hours before the test I drank 64 oz of Gatorade. My urine was only slightly yellow tinged, almost waterlike when I submitted my sample.

2 days later my boss was notified that my test results were "abnormal" and would require further testing…

I am unsure if this means they think it is dilute and need to test it further or if they are going to run gc/ms which may find THC metabolites above 15ng… (very bad).

Have you ever heard of Labcorp running gc/ms on a dilute sample rather than making the donor retest?

Drug tests are not conducted in this matter. Labs WILL NOT run a GC/MS on a sample that is ruled "negative/diluted". Only if the sample is tested postive will it undergo the confirmation GC/MS.

And BTW, dont be worried about the GC/MS because of its numerically lower cutoff threshold. Even though their cutoffs numerically differ, a 15 ng GC/MS is functionally equivalent to the 50 ng Immunoassay screen. This is where I am confused and worried. The morning of the test after only a single glass of water and small cup of coffee I had a medium pink line on a negative home test. I then ate a big breakfast and lunch, then drank 64oz of gatorade before the test later that afternoon. Urine was nearly completely clear (and should have been even more negative).

I fully expected to receive word that I could begin work within the next 24-48 hrs. But they reported to my boss that the urine test was abnormal and would require further testing which could take up to 72hrs… it sounds like a prelim positive that is going for gc/ms confirmation. but according to the home tests I should have been good to go.

Have you found that the home tests are not as sensitive as Labcorp? Thanks

Sounds like what youve heard is a BS story. If a urine sample tested positive on the initial assay screen, it would subsequently get sent to the confirmation GC/MS without the MRO notifying the employer that the "sample requires further testing".

Have you found that the home tests are not as sensitive as Labcorp?

The lab assays used for the initial screening function on the same principle as the home assays. Therefore neither are more accurate than the other.
