    bugs?

i keep finding huge holes in the dirt in my pots...especially in the morning...has anyone ever had this problem? i immediately think of bugs, but i've dug around in the dirt and can't find any signs of them...could it be the roots making the dirt do that? the dirt is pretty shallow in one pot, but then it's higher in the other, and they both get the holes in them...i've just been covering them up...but the plants are doing just fine, one is flowering, so i don't think the roots are being eaten...it just worries me, help me please!

if it is bugs, does anyone know of a good way to get rid of them without killing my plants?

are you sure it is not the soil settling after you water your plants?

    bugs?

see, that's my prob, i'm thinking yeah, it might be that, i mean, the pots are pretty small, and it might be rootbound from that anyways, but would that make 1" or less diameter holes that sometimes go nearly to the bottom of the pot?

i still haven't found any signs of bugs, and i even had a plant get killed by accident (long story) and i stirred up the dirt really good, and no signs of bugs... although, we live in some REALLY OLD apartments, and though pest control comes by often, we still see those ungodly nasty german cockroaches once in a while...just one here and there, and they're fucking HUGE, you wouldn't believe

if it is bugs, then they're not eating roots...the plant that still lives is thriving, budding like hell, smells so good.... i think if it is bugs, then they're just going in at night (since it's so dark where i keep it at night) and looking for moisture and finding it in my fuckin dirt, goddamn moochers...maybe i'll put out some raid traps on top of the dirt and outside the pot to see if it stops it, but i'm just scared that the bugs will carry the poison down in the dirt...and i'm REALLY scared that if i don't do that, then maybe they'll lay eggs in the dirt...then they'll fuckin hatch out all over my apartment, i'd be a prissy bitch then, all over our dining room table screaming like a bitch....UUGHGHHHH I HATE BUGS!!!!

garden, the physics of what you thought of really makes sense though, i'm using a regular cup to pour the water in the pots instead of a plant watering implement, i mean, the water pours in a pretty steady stream...it could settle the dirt some, it's very sparse and airy dirt after all...

i just don't want to ignore the possibility of bugs, since we do see a nasty roach once in a while...those german cockroaches resist almost everything that we can do to kill bugs...i doesn't matter how clean your house is, if they're around, they'll breed, and they'll find peace and quiet, and water...i'm learning just as much about cockroaches as i am about marijuana in this little journey...

btw i just recently started having this problem, probably after 8 good weeks of growing, just as i started flowering, maybe a week into it...i hope it's just because there's not enough dirt...it's one of those 88 cent plant pots from wal mart, and i want to guesstimate that it's a gallon, maybe a little less...
