    flushing soil

hey i've been doing some reading on earth juice nutes and i came across this:

The true 'earth juice' tutorial 2011!!!!

"Itā??s probably harder for a grower to over-fertilize using organic fertilizers . . . but if they do thereā??s no quick solution . . . organic fertilizers usually canā??t be flushed away like salt fertilizerā??s can . . . so if a grower over-fertilizes they will likely have to live with the consequences for a longer term . . ."

but other places i've read about people flushing nutes out of their soil. is this correct? i ask because i had a pretty bad over nute problem (too baked to be doing tsp to gallon math) with alaska fish and i "flushed" with water until i didn't smell that fish shit anymore. the plants started growing fine, but have stopped growing again after a few plain water feedings. i'm not sure which side i'm on now, still over fed or under fed? how organic is alaska fish? can i flush that out of my soil??

    thanks!

Hey I believe you'd have to list the stats or at least name of the 'fish shit' for us to tell how organic it is. If you are buying a fish from Alaska, chopping it up and blending it before throwing it in soil, that is 100% organic for example! :greenthumb:
You can also flush the nutes out of your soil with repeated waterings with no added nutes. I believe it is more to do with ppm and pH of soil than just the smell. You will have to check around this forum though, just do a search for flushing.

    Good luck, man.

hey shnibbles i have found a way to flush soil but it takes about 2 week's of pure ph control water, then when you have only feed pure water for 2 week's its flushed thats how i do when i over feed soil

just remember Do Not Over Water no mater what, even if you over feed do not panic and over water your plants then its better to just feed water for the next week's time

    --- Peace ---

hey thanks for the replies. the stuff i was using was called "alaska fish fertilzer", it's sold damn new everywhere where i live and smells horrible haha. my ph meter is a piece of crap, but i flushed the soil until there was no more stench and my run off was somewhere around 6.8, i think. i kept watering with plain water, but i'm not sure if i got all the nutes out.

anyway i hit them with some earth juice grow and catalyst and they seem to have responded well. i'm wondering if they just really hungry now? i picked up earth juice grow, bloom, microblast and catalyst. i might feed them again monday night. the plants still look a little rough, but perky. hopefully i don't fuck them up again, i really don't want to scrap these 2 plants since i know they're both female. i took clones off both, one has rooted and i'm waiting for the others to root before i put the 2 "mothers" into 12/12

    first grow learning yay!

Earth Juice is a very good line of products for organic soil grows. I use the Meta-K product during bloom cycle.

When you are ready for harvist, Cut at the top of the root, and put that part of the stem in some rain water, for a few days, with the lights still in the 12 12 or you can do it outside, if you just tie up to a tree lim, and hang in the water for a few days, before bringing in to dry. Just the bottom of the stem, not any leaves. Good luck, and happy growing.

i've read only good things about earth juice! i couldn't find meta-k though. i bought a $10 aquarium air pump and air stone and i bubble the solution in a milk jug for at least 24 hours, all inside a 68L rubbermaid storage tote. i live in apartment and i didn't want to carry bags of guano etc in here to brew compost tea, so earth juice made sense. word of advice though! don't cheap out on the pump. mine isn't very strong, only the top 1" of the air stone is fizzing haha. oh EJ doesn't smell horrible either! to me it smells like strawberry yogurt!

anyone know how long i can leave the solution bubbling for? as long as there's foam on top it should be happy right? i'm not going to feed on monday. i will do feed, water, water because i don't want to overfeed again.

I read it some where, can't remember where, but sound's right to me. Maybe not. Why don't you google how to flush your plants, and you might come across the article. Good luck, and happygrowing.
