deformed growth, please take a look
This one girl has been like this almost from the beginning, stuff I read said phosphorus deficiency, so I did a foliar spray with a weak nute. I have fed twice now, They are about a month. In a hempy bucket, with perlite and vermiculite, temp is a little high but the other six are thriving. They are under a 400w mh. Any thoughts? Attachment 294530

I think the problem is your growing medium... Perlite and vermiculite are soil additives, not soil replacements.. They don't have any nutrition

Hempy bucket style is usually 100% perlite and it can produce as well as any hydroponic medium. You do have to use nutrients. That is where hydroponic growing becomes a challenge for new growers.

Sooooo, does anyone with hempy experience have any idea what might be causing this? I have fed twice with regular nutes and sprayed her leaves once with a diluted foliar spray. Any thoughts? Thanks!

deformed growth, please take a look
Out of 16 plants I have one that is yellow and has been from the start no mater what I try it doesn't change and the others are fine. Genetics and immunity play a role as do viruses and fungus don't worry about this one be happy for the healthy ones.

The yellowing is the plant just saying its hungry so feed it. People treat hempys like soil and they are not. The way I do my hempys is I condition 3x3 rw cubes in a 300 ppm lucas feed ph'd at 5.6, plant the seed and cover and set it on my water heater. I nearly always have a happy sprout 36-48 hrs. Uncover the seedlings and place them under a cfl for about a week until I have an inch or so of taproot out of the rw cube. The rw then goes into its final 3.5 gal container of 100% perlite and put under my mh. Feed daily with 300 ppm lucas for 1 week and then start bumping the feed 150 ppm a week of whatever base nute/additives you will veg with, 1 gal every other day. Feed every time, the runoff is plenty to flu I have had mutant leaves on plants a couple of times and while they look cool, iv either had a bad plant the entire grow and regret not pulling it or have it herm and regret pulling it so I don't grow anything out that's not solid anymore.

Thank you so much for the input, I greatly appreciate it. You feed every day, the roots dry out enough? I know the perlite doesn't really hold any water, but I didn't think you could feed that much. I feed and water about every third day, but the cups are real dry, I could probably do every other day. I'll keep the ppms low and work up. The biggest mistake I made is when I germinated them in paper towels, I didn't ph the water. The rest are fine but I think they aren't as big as they should be. Man, I love the info I get here from experienced growers, it really helps

I feed every other day with 1 gal, I never give them just water. The gallon every other day has enough runoff to flush the bucket and they never go without food. The first week I concentrate most of the nutes in the middle of the bucket to keep the tap root heading straight down to the res. My first time doing hempys I did like a lot of people do and waited 3-4 days between feeding and it took forever for the tap root to hit the res, had some nute def, and my ph and ppm of my runoff was crazy. Doing it the way I do it now iv had no problems, if the ppm's of my runoff climbs, I back off the nutes accordingly. A gallon may seem wasteful for the first and second week but its a good way to avoid problems and get the tap root to the bottom. I see you do mini hempys, I like going directly into my final bucket that way I only have to wait for the roots to hit the Rez once, no transplant. It's just the way I do it. Best advice I can give is to remember its hydro, not soil, it doesn't need to dry out before feedings.

The advice I was given was to not put them directly into their final pot when they germinate, but I didn't question it. Now I have to hope I damage any fine little roots, stress the crap out of them, or even break one. Someone here gave me a really good idea how to do it, so I'll try tomorrow. I know it's hydro, but since it looks like a soil grow I'm so worried about not drowning the roots. Thanks for all your advice bro
