Anyone have any good mold prevention tips
It's that time of year when the mold starts to show. For me it's been a fairly moldy season. I took off what would have amounted to about an ounce off some plants yesterday.
Anyone have any tips they would like to share with us all for mold prevention. I've always just cut off the moldy bud, taking as many precautions as possible and hoped for the best. Not exactly a prevention but it's all I have.built2spill Reviewed by built2spill on . Anyone have any good mold prevention tips It's that time of year when the mold starts to show. I'd like to know the same thing, so I'll be watching the thread.
It's too late for the only advice I can give - there are some strains out there that are developed specifically for high-moisture areas that are mold resistant.
Otherwise, I've always been told if you have dense buds, keep the fans going for lots of airflow - not much help if you're outside.

Botanacare has a product called Silica Blast that works good and a product called Actinavate works too.

lipps, would this product be safe to use about 6 weeks into flower?
I have some Espoma Earthtone 3n1 control, says it's food safe up to day of harvest and claims to controll fungus, insects and mites among other critters. Not sure if that translates to safe to smoke. I usually stop using it when flower kicks in.

Shovel thanks for chiming in, do you do anything outdoors for mold prevention? Aside from the standards like shaking off water or removing infected bud.
It has been pretty humid here, N.E. US 42. Temps were ripe for mold but colder nights lately should help. Problem is my AK 47 is starting to get really fat and mold has been hitting me hard. All my purples are doing great since they started about 2 weeks later than the AK and have yet to thicken up.
I remember reading once there is a kelp extract that kills mold and is safe to use during flower. I don't remember any more details nor can I find the post. I'm wary of spraying anything on the buds and have actually never done so but this years mold attack has been like no other I can remember.
Another tip I heard once was baking soda and water. Never used it and didn't get the ratio for mix but a grower I met once swore by it. Food for thought I guess. Anyone ever use this or hear of it?

The silica for sure the Actinavate takes awhile to kick in and it needs to be sprayed on the plant and watered in.
