Hopefully the next 6wks will have less rain, lower humidity. Other wise we'll all have moldy rotten buds. Ugh!

Pretty ladies! You need some dryer weather quick! I live in Md. near the head of the chesapeake bay. Even when it's not raining, the humidity is high enough to cause mold growth. I understand it's been the same for the entire eastern seaboard. Durning the first round of constant rain, even my tomatoes turned yellow & died from over watering. They were in the ground. I had 14 ladies in 3 gallon nursery pots, lots of loose organics & sand in my growing mix, well drained & doing great (still in veg.) but they were stolen about 5or6 wks ago. Thats the 6th yr in a row, so I guess the mold will be someone else's problem. After a rain, go out & gently shake off as much water as you can. If you still end up getting mold/fungus, you may have to treat with a fungicide. I don't advocate smoking these chemicals, so if you're forced to use them, rinse them well just before harvest (hopefully on a dry sunny day if we ever have one), shake off the water & harvest once dry. I love growing outdoors organically, but on the east coast, we are a slave to the weather. It can be so different from one summer to the next it's almost like moving to a different state. I can't wait till it's legal & I can grow in a greenhouse!

I guess everyone on the east coast will have to create indoor drying space. I live alone, so I can wreck my house to creat space if I see fit, no one around to bitch about clothes line stretched across a room with buds hanging from it. It's been WAY too hot to run a heater & fan in the drying room, so you'll almost certainly need a/c to keep humidity down, but even with a/c, you'll still need an oscillating fan. Round about 20/25 yrs ago, it was so humid one fall that even this failed for me. I started to see mold on a few buds dispite my efforts. In a panic attack, I threw out the molded buds & dried the rest in the microwave. DO NOT OVER DRY if you get stuck with this as your only option, they will burn up. I dried in small batches & it took me over 15 hrs. It was a big harvest. I found this do-able in 1/8 (wet wt), 1 min at a time, on several sheets of paper towel to absorb moisture as they sweat, turn over, go another min. Keep going in 1 min increments untill dry. I guess this does degrade some thc, but it was still kick ass, & ANYTHING beats loosing your whole harvest to mold & fungus. I mean go this far with so much, then loose the buds in the drying process!?!? Anybody with a similar experience to share? How about a better way to deal with such an emergency. I'm all ears.(eyes?)
