    Hi Everyone,

First off, I am the squarest poster on this board - I don't smoke - I did when I was younger, tried it all, but it was never my thing and when I got my card and re-tried it recently I still could not make it work. I simply cannot tolerate THC's effects.
So I don't know very much, but I have tried to research as much as I could to try to treat my illness. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, a severe neuropathic condition that is not responding to treatment and not well to drugs, even the strongest anti-seizure meds and opiates. I have had two brain surgeries in an attempt to treat it, but they were unsuccessful due to complications.
I did an earlier post, but had read what I thought was the rules page but it was only the FAQs, and missed some critical info on what I was not supposed to request on this board (Big humble "SORRY" to the mods, I meant no disrespect).
So I am here to garner information, see what I can learn, and see if there is anyone that can teach me about high-CBD/ultra low THC research and development that has been done here in California, I can do my own further research elsewhere out there on the "internets", it's just that I am so damn uninformed that I need somewhere to start, and thought that you nice folks might be able to lend me a hand, in any manner that it acceptable within the rules. I am truly desperate after 7 years of grueling daily severe pain, and I really need help.
Peace, and above all, wellness, to you all,

    Hi Everyone,

You need to visit some research centers in MMJ friendly states such as California, there they grow and breed different strains to create a more acceptable medicine for people who have problems with THC... Some hybrid strains they've created have a higher Cannabidiol levels than THC. Cannabidol is considered to have a wider scope in the medical field, this chemical also negates what THC does to a certain degree. They can even do a total extraction of the Cannabidiol to make a medicine that indefinitely will not make you 'high' unfortunately this is also highly illegal therefore finding someone to do it will be a little more difficult... But if i were you i would start by consulting experts in the field in an MMJ friendly state.

    Hi Everyone,

    Hi I_Smoke,
I'm lucky enough to live in California, centrally located as well. I have looked at the menus of many places, online however, and the THC levels are still too high for me. I keep getting told that it is on the horizon, but that is where it seems to stay, just out of reach. I was so inspired by the story that Sanjay Gupta followed on his special "Weed", about the children with the massive seizure issues - the strain that they were able to procure for them had a relatively high level of CBDs and a THC level of only .05.

The reason this medicine sounds so promising to me is that anti-seizure meds are often prescribed to treat neuropathic pain off label", because, to vastly simplify it, they quiet the nervous system. I take 4 anti-seizure meds a day, enough to drop a horse to it's knees. After watching it I knew that someone out there had reached my Holy Grail and bred a practically THC-free strain (safe enough for kids!) , but these people are all in Colorado and I am here. I have since been unable to find anything on anyone's lists/menus/etc here in CA. I did learn a lot however, so it wasn't all for nothing.

When you say research centers, are you talking about dispensaries, or are there places that do actual research that are not related to dispensaries? Please pardon me if any of my questions are naive or ignorant. It is a pity that that extraction method that you speak of is illegal, if it could be used to improve someone's quality of life - I don't know the details however. Thanks for answering I look forward to hearing more on this topic:clap:

    Hi Everyone,

Research centers as in where i guess you would call "scientist" or "chemist" do their testing on cannabis... These places are probably a little hidden from the public but there are plenty in Cali. I would visit dispensaries find the most knowledgeable representative and bring him your case. Keep going to other dispensaries till you find luck with someone. I know in northern California in the Emerald triangle there was someone who did a total CBD concentrated extract for a child in dire need. The law about this is fuzzy and hard to explain but its illegal because ppl will extract all the THC making a super potent extract without the CBD compound that negates THC. But anyway what you're looking for is a CBD concentrate... I would look into this extraction process, it may be easier just to learn the process your self.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks, the illegality of the process makes more sense now. I get up north sometimes, I do have a place that I can stay in up that way near Mendocino. It seems such a foreign world to try to find my way into, but maybe I just have to just trust in the process and start making it happen. Meaning I'm kind of a bookish, shy person and I don't know how to find my way all the way to getting the help that I need, because I have run up against roadblocks before when I have tried to find help at the dispensaries. I've gone in, I would ask if there was a medical consultant around, I would just get referred to the next budtender, some helpful, often not. The process was very disheartening to me and did not seem very medicinally focused. Perhaps I have to do what I did with my medical care - get a spine and get vocal until I get the help that I need, and break through that wall of budtenders and get to the real folks that know what they are doing - but how do I do that?

    Hi Everyone,

Getting past the BS... Now that will probably be the hardest thing to do. The most knowledgeable person you could consult is the cannabis farmer and not just amateur. The ones that have been farming for years and do it for a living because they know everything, and everybody you're looking for. Farmers often send their product to labs to test potency and what not. They also may supply a lab or research center in which your looking for and may be able to refer you. I also recovered the name of the gentleman that did the CBD extract for the child his name is Nate Morris he's pretty well known amongst select farmers the Emerald triangle. Finding him is a long shot but it would definitely pay off. You could try and find someone with a similar dilemma and see what they did.. But to answer your question, you could do it that way but i'm the same way i don't have much of a backbone. Another way to do it is friends, get friends that only use marijuana for their illnesses. The more friends like that, the better chance they went through a very knowledgeable MMJ consultant. Oh and I'm not familiar at all with how dispensaries or the ppl working there, I've never been to one due to the fact i live on very east coast of the country.

    Hi Everyone,

    topshelfgardens.com

The farmer here (link above) claims to have a strain very potent in CBDs. He's more medicinally focused than a bud-tender in which most legal growers are. I'd contact him about your case. He may not be able to get/have what you need at the moment but im sure he can come up with what you need or point you in the right direction.

    Hi Everyone,

I have to thank you so much, I_smoke, you've really stuck with me on this subject and I really appreciate it, and I appreciate that you didn't try to encourage me to "try one more time" to see if I'd change my mind about getting high. You kinda handed me the magic key with the words "CBD concentrate". I googled that, and was able to find a website for a place in Modesto, which isn't too far from here, and once again the story rounds back to Dravet Syndrome, that seizure disorder that I was mentioning above - it looks like a dedicated father here in Cali has figured out how to make his own batches and is also providing it for others. I need to get my card updated, and get ahold of him, but it looks like I have found what I am looking for and it is because of your help, for which I am very grateful. Seriously. I cried when I found it. That kind of grateful. So - much thanks! I will try to check back in and update about the efficacy if anyone is interested.
