Will I know what type of test I will be taking beforehand?

    Hey all,

I recently went a tough interview process and was able to get a great job working as a sales manager for a major tobacco company. My job would consist of me driving a company car throughout my day. I'll be on the road 95% of the time. It's a bit different process than most jobs. All pre employment paperwork is done through email as I will not need to go to the corporate offices. When the recruiter spoke to me about the drug test, she said she would pair me with a local lab.

My question is this.. Would they be likely to send me the form for the test, or should I expect them not to provide any paperwork to give to the lab? I know theres a test with a 50 cutoff and a 20 cutoff. I've been clean for 36 days, and will be clean about 38-40 when test time comes, so I can pass the 50.. Been getting extremely faint lines on my first void, so I figured if its a 50 test I can just drink a 32 oz gatorade and give them a void later in the day.

However, not so confident I can pass the 20 test being that I saw my first void line about a week ago. At this point Id want to sub. Im trying to know what to expect..

Do you think they will provide me the form # of the test beforehand? Sorry to ramble!

Could be either way, depending on the employer. Some employers will send the CCF form with the donor, while other employers will call/fax/e-mail the collection facility an order of what type of U/A to be performed and the collection facility will make out the CCF form at the facility.

Its a common misconception that line intensity is proportionate to the ng/ml levels of THC in the urine. Not so! The THC line is often more faint than the lines of the other drug panels on an assay. Even synthetic urine controls (which contain no drug metabolites at all) can produce a faint line on an assay. A faint line is still a line, which translates a negative. A negative is a negative.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Is there a certain type of job/industry that would be more inclined to use a lower cutoff? Like I said, they'd be giving me a car to keep and drive daily, so I wonder if that would play a factor.

Strongly considering subbing if I can't find out the test type beforehand. I can have my friend piss in a 3 oz energy shot bottle across the street from the lab, crotch it and go.

I know I'd pass the 50 test, but not too confident on the 20.

    Thanks again

Again, it depends on the employer and how much money the employer wishes to spend. The only exception to this if its a DOT-regulated test. Under DOT regulations (in which employers in participation must follow), ALL DOT-regulated tests utilize an Immunoassay (for the initial screen) with a 50 ng/ml cutoff for THC. If the urine sample fails the I/A, the sample undergoes the GC/MS (for the confirmation test) which carries a 15 ng/ml limit for THC.

Based on your experience, do you think it would be better to play it safe and sub from my friend??

If you have access to a persons drug-free urine sample, then by all means use it.

Just be sure the person is indeed drug-free and had not consumed a large amount of fluids prior to donating his/her sample to you.

Heard that some labs test for male/female hormones. Is this true? Should he also make sure his friend is the right gender to sub?

From what I understand, they don't test for that. But I have a male friend subbing for me. Thank you

What youve heard is false. Labs practicing in the US are prohibited from performing any form of genetic testing on urine samples collected for an employment drug test. Donors facing an employment-related U/A are protected against genetic profiling under the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), which was signed into law in 2005 by then-President George W Bush and revised in 2008 to protect donors from genetic profiling by insurance companies.

With that being pointed out, any human urine sample can be used as a sub as long as the sub donor is indeed drug-free and not overhydrated.

There are dozens of posts throughout the DT forum that cover this issue.

Currently practicing the sub method.. Been able to keep a 3 oz flip cap bottle at 96 degrees for 45 min. Seems almost too easy to be true. Am I missing something??
