Help: Headaches and Weed
I've been smoking for 20+ years now and I've never had this problem until lately. About 2 weeks ago I bought some really subpar stuff (I live in a small town where it's hard to find anything, especially quality stuff). This weed is weird. It's budded, moderate amount of seeds, it's really tight and compressed, totally schwag. It was cheap as dirt and I hadn't smoked anything in a while. I burned half a J the day I got the stuff, felt alright, played PS3 all afternoon, smoked again, felt okay--wasn't great weed and it wasn't totally horrible.
Thursday of this week, I smoked half a J, played some ps3--burned the rest of the J--cooked supper. Ate supper, watched a little TV, burned another half J. Then about 30 minutes later, I felt like I was drunk off of whiskey or something. The room was spinning and the buzz I had was really, really weird. It wasn't a headache, but I felt like I was getting a headache. My buzz felt more like an alcohol buzz even though I had nothing to drink that day. This feeling lasted for hours and I would feel better if I concentrated on something like restringing my guitar, walking the dog, doing the dishes. But when I sat down to zone out, the room began spinning and the buzz became really uncomfortable and unpleasant.
The next day after it took me hours to fall asleep, I woke up with a blistering headache that lasted most of the day despite four doses of BC powder (aspirin) and running 4 miles and working out with weights for 60 minutes (exercise usually neutralizes a headache for me).
My questions for you all: has this ever happened to you? If so, what did you do about it? I've got like 3/4 of a Z left of this total crap weed and I'm a little scared to smoke any more of it. I don't want that feeling ever again. I've bought some crap weed in my lifetime, but it usually just made me sleepy and it's never given me a drunk feeling and a hangover effect. Could there be something wrong with me (I'm 42 years old)? Has my body started to reject weed or something? Do you think it could be related to the low quality stuff? The guy I got it from at one time was getting way better stuff that was more expensive--it was still schwag because that's all there is in my bumpkin town--but this other stuff didn't give me weird feelings? What do you all think? I friend of mine brought over some quality stuff that he found in Birmingham and looked at the bullcrap that I got. He said it probably had been treated with chemical pesticides and that's probably what made me feel so weird. What do you all think of his theory?
Thanks in advance. I'm new here and I'm a veteran toker who doesn't want to quit. I've had to give up beer because it gives me headaches and I don't want to have to give up the bud.Diogenes1970 Reviewed by Diogenes1970 on . Help: Headaches and Weed
I don't think it's u, I think it's the weed. I'm 59, & I went through the same thing with some really shit dirt weed a few years back. Scared me too. Thought it might b due to my age till my friend came down from Pa & smoked some really slaming shit with me. Your friend may be right about insecticide, or maybe it wasn't dried/cured properly. When that happens, you can get fungus growth on the weed & have different effects from it; or so says something I read it High Times years ago. I'm a stickler when it comes to drying/curing what I grow, so I've never had that problem with my own grow. The problem I'm having is just getting weed. Can't find any old heads anymore, & the younger one's say shit like, man! I can't sell to you! You know my mom! Here lately it been, you know my GRANDMOM! The kids now a days know nothing of old hippies. I'm ready to just slap 'em & take their weed. I haven't been high in about 6 months because of that shit. Its pissing me off!

One more thing. There's nothing u can do to change the weed. It is what it is. I'd pass it on to someone I really dislike (eh hee hee), or if it's a buddy tell them how it made u feel & c if they'll try it & get back to u on the effects.
Ok, I have a question about auto-flower. Years ago I'd been following the experimentation of breeding ruderalis (spelling), to normal weed. Ruderalis is a natural auto-flowering wild plant, I think it was native to Russia, not sure on that, but anyway, low in thc, its only value was it flowered on maturity regardless of the photo-period. Lately I read somewhere (I believe it was on this forum) that auto-flowering wasn't quite as potent as regular. Is the auto-flowering now available the result of this experimental breeding that began about 30 years ago? Or is it something entirely different?I\'m an ole\' tree huggin hippie. Today's autos are result of that experimentation & breeders have been working to boost the yield & power ever since.
Like all strains, some people have better results than others, but logic says that you'll never get quite the same power & yield that you would get from the same genetics without the Ruderalis.
Most people like them just because they're much faster than traditional seeds.
If you'd like to see what's out there, we have a High THC Auto page on our site - everything has to have at least 15% THC per breeder spec to qualify.
We also have a High Yield Auto page (at least 400 gr/m2) and a High-Performance Auto page that combines the two features. Just click on the links to take a look. This is our newer site & we're still loading up seeds so there will be a lot more variety on these pages as time goes by.

Help: Headaches and Weed
Hey! Thanks so much for that info! Back in the day, I'd been following thoes breeding experiments closely, found a place in Holland to even order ruderalis seeds, then lost my info contact because I had to move back in with my parents for a while, & you guessed it.... certainly couldn't grow for a while. That question had been on my mind since the first time I saw autoflower seeds. I hold a hort degree & have years of greenhouse experience, so I not only grow, I like to breed too. Now that I have the freedom too get back into the swing of things, I need to order some quality seeds.
So what's your take on the problem diogenes1970 had with the dirt weed?I\'m an ole\' tree huggin hippie. I do what I like & like what I do.

Help: Headaches and Weed
I have no idea about the dirt weed - never known of anyone getting headaches from smoking.
When I was about 14/15, my best friend projectile-puked bright green spew from smoking home-grown, but that's the only time I've personally known anyone to get sick.
Bad cases of paranoia, sure - physically sick, no.
I can't drink & smoke - if I do, I get this swaying sensation like I'm on a boat in stormy weather with huge swells.
My vote is with everyone else - I'm thinking it's contaminated in some way with either pesticides or some type of mold or fungus.
I would think you could smell the mold or fungus though.
And, it might not have anything to do with the weed - if dude is headache prone, it could just be a coincidence.
I have migraines & I'll go through periods of a week or so that no matter what I do or don't do, I'll have a killer headache at some point in the day.

Help: Headaches and Weed
C.S. Thanks! Your helpfulness has made my decision for me as to where I'll be getting some new seed stock. Back in the 80's I read something of an archeological report (thank god for auto-spell), that spoke of a certain type of fungus spores that had a psychotropic/hallusenogentic (spelling?) effect if consumed. It supposedly has no odor or taste. They were digging at the Jamestown (or was it Johnstown) site, & found an area where potatoes/root crops had been stored & found it full of these spores. This area made history for some kind of mass hysteria that happened back in the settlers day. Supposedly, it becomes ramped in the absence of ventilation & hygiene (makes sense). Makes me wonder if this could have also been the true cause of the Salem witch hunt... hum. But any way, back to the point. Could this ever happen to our weed? Would it possibly be why both Diogenes1970 & I once had the same weird effect, apparently from smoking dirt weed? Just wondering.

Help: Headaches and Weed
Contrary to what I am reading; Some strains DO cause a headache...one is LA Confidential, for me.
Some OTC drugs have the same side effects
