Pruning- schools of thought
Hello everyone
From my reading I can see different opinions on pruning.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know Esteban isn't a fan and likes to tie down his fan leaves a bit out of the way, but not cut them off completely as this is where nitrogen and plants energy is stored.
But then I see Dutch Pimps most ridiculous yields of these insane looking plants he has quite unapologetically lollipoped.
Dutch, Esteban how about a little argument here that we can get some pearls of wisdom from?
perhaps even some pruning dos and don'ts?
Also, for guys who drop in, please some advice for me specifically?
I am attaching a picture of my nicest bushy plant, which I feel needs pruning because the canopy is too thick and I won't get proper yield from the bottom colas.
q) how much pruning is too much? Every 3 days to give the plant time to recover?
q) can I prune off the half dead leaves, or should I wait for them to dry out more and just about die off themselves before pruning (built2spill recommends letting them do their thing)
q) can I prune off the quite well developed colas that are at the bottom of the plant?
q) can i prune off just the fan leaves, if the colas have properly developed leaves of their own?
q) how long before flower do i stop pruning? a week before to give it time to recover? do i prune in flower? do i see what it looks like in flower and decide which I want to keep and which not?
lots of questions, but very much appreciate your inputs.1st timer Reviewed by 1st timer on . Pruning- schools of thought Hello everyone From my reading I can see different opinions on pruning. You will find that every grower has his/her way of doing things. Can itemize all of the different techniques but would develop callouses he he..... I would suggest learning all of the in/outs & develop your own conclusions. Learn from your mistakes cuz You Will make them. Trick is don't make them again. Btw nice little grow! Peace

You think you're smarter than your plant? The plant produces foliage and roots if you screw with the foliage you will screw up what the plant is trying to do. Did these extreme plants get a double that didn't get trimmed? What are you pruning for more bud sites or to limit the height? When the plant doesn't need the leaves it will drop them. The plant has a survival smaller inner growth that doesn't get light it's there in case something happens to the main growth so it will still be able to produce seeds and survive that can be removed if it gets no light and you don't have marauding goats but leave all the leaves getting light they power up the plant.
