Does full shade equal "dark" period growing outside?
Hello, I am growing 5 ladies outside on the far east coast of north America. I took 6 random seeds from a bag of mid I had and got extremely lucky with only 1 being a male. I put them in a dark room for 24 hrs as I did with my indoor grow a cpl of years back to start flowering and have been moving them every 12hrs in darkness but I do a lot of LST which I can only really do outside and moving them everyday is a big hassle. Ive notived where I have them direct sunlight is only on them about 11-12.5hrs a day if I didn't move then but the sun is out closer to 14-15hrs right now. So my question is does shade time equal dark time for plants? If so I could stop moving them. Preciate any help!

Your question was answered, so let's get to the nitty-gritty. I'm on the east coast,.. it's a big coast.
It would be really helpful if you'd post your latitude. Most of the outdoor here @42N is already in flower, or in transition. (today @ 42 the day is 14hrs, sun-up to sun-down) Your east/west exposure plays into this, as well.
It's a pity you don't know the strain, as that is a huge factor in whether it is safe to leave 'em out or not.

Wish I knew the strai also and don't know my latitude but in NC. So even when in complete shade they are still getting enough lite to keep them to start flowering?

I'm at 45ΒΊ, US Canadian border in New England. Plants are just starting to show. They are still very hard to tell. The one male I pulled so far was 4-5 feet tall and had only one flower. Six others have single, tiny flowers here and there. One has yet to show sex.

I don't understand what you want to do.... do you want them to flower? Because they will flower now that the days are getting shorter...12 hours of sun a day is plenty for cannabis....sometimes a full on sun for days during a heat wave is too much .... I've had big plants grow in half sun half shade for a whole season and do fine.... they are a tropical plant, not a desert plant, and grow in the shady rain forests well. I would only worry if stretching is a problem and they would get too tall for ya.
