Curious if this has happened to anyone? Took a pre employment drug test about three weeks ago and figured all was good by now. I was hired before I even took it. They gave it to me and I knew I'd be fine. It was a mouth swab test and it had been over a month since I'd smoked. So I decided since I'm about to go into my third full week at my second job and decided to smoke last night. Actually an old friend I'd hadn't got to see much in recent years stopped by and asked if I wanted to smoke. I said ok and partook. About 3 hours into my shift today I get called to the mgr's office. I figured it was something stupid. No, it was much more. I was informed that my sample got lost and never tested. Ha ha! Talk about Instant stomach cramps. I had no choice but to re take it. Needless to say it goes out courier Monday morning. So I've decided to do the honorable thing. I'm in my upper 30's and have never been fired from a job. I'm going to the main manager and going to suck it up and tell her I quit and why. What makes that difficult is I worked with her years ago at the same job. I'm going to explain to her why I am quitting and save myself the embarrassment of getting fired. Going to wait a bit and go for another part time job. I guess this one wasn't meant to be.

I don't know what your job description is but hopefully they are screwed. Harassing an excellent employee over something that is none of their business, resulting of the loss of said employee may not have the conclusion they were planing on.

Short term they will be. They have me working about 30 hours a week on top of my 40 + full time job because they are short handed. I don't complain and I do my job and don't screw off. I'm a Grocery Clerk at a supermarket. I have 7 years of prior job expirence so needless to say they didn't need to train me much at all. They also have hi expectations of me. I don't think it's fair but I guess that's part of how life works sometimes. It would be much easier if I didn't know the store manager. I'm not sure how she will react but I'm hoping she lets me resign so I don't have to go through the embarrassment of being fired.

Needless to say I didn't quit. Not fired yet anyway but I'm sure that day will come soon. From what I've gathered a positive sample can take a few days as to make sure it's accurate. The more I thought about it the more angry I became so I decided to collect as many hours before I get fired ad I can. After all it's just a second job. I can find another one. What kind of world do we live in where you don't bother anyone, pay your taxes and work hard should you deal with b.s. like this. I'm not trying to fly an airplane or conduct a train for pete's sake. Just had a fun night not knowing what was going to happen the next day. I was telling a person I know what happened and she went off on me. How stupid you are to smoke. I'm thinking to myself you just had 5 or 6 beers and you are driving home from the bar. WTF, sorry for ranting but I'm just so sick of ignorance when it comes to pot. So I'm going to still work until I'm told the news and then ask if I can quit/resign. I'm only making just over minimum wage so it's not like I'm losing a dream job lol.
