    Cannabis-induced snoring issues?

My husband deals with severe chronic back pain, possible nerve damage, and horrible sleep apnea.

He has a bipap machine to deal with the S.A, which works wonders for him. He no longer snores, doesn't wake up all the time, and his HBP is beginning to reduce!

BUT. When he started using MMJ for his pain issues (Rx meds not helping and his primary doc unwilling to try anything else, hubby has to see a "pain specialist" yet those we have seen are just addiction specialists who don't want to treat him with meds that actually will help out with his pain!), it worked WONDERS for his pain. Yet, he started snoring again really badly for a bit each night right away when going to sleep.

I'm wondering if anyone might have insight on this. He had not smoked in many years, and was going to bed JUST after smoking so he was quite :stoned:. More recently as we're home and not on vacation, we're watching shows before going to sleep so there is some time after he smokes before falling asleep.

The bipap machine starts out with low pressure and slowly goes up to his prescription level of pressure over 45 minutes. I'm thinking it's possible that he just fell asleep so fast and so hard that he snored that badly that the pressures couldn't prevent it yet, possibly. Also, as he has more time currently between smoking and sleep, he is likely falling asleep more slowly and thus the machine has more time to be helping him breath properly.

    Does this make any sense?

Anyone have experience or heard of whether cannabis can cause heavier snoring issues?

I'm nearly wondering if we should do another sleep study (would be night #4 at about $3000 per night!) to see if he needs a higher prescription pressure level on the machine for when he smokes versus when he does not smoke. :wtf: Our insurance will hate us though. We're past our out of pocket max for the year already! LOL!

(I don't notice his snoring once I fall asleep, so if he's falling asleep after me and snoring then I really don't know. I just know when he falls asleep FAST that he snores horribly right away if he had just smoked within the last 30-45 minutes)

    Thoughts?

Can't you go to some ear, noise, and Throught Doctor. I thought they could do operatitions that could stop people from snoring. Just an Idea, you might want to check out. Good luck, and happying growing.
