Sureproof way to pass hair follicle test?

So I was supposed to be getting a drug test last week but he emailed me this:

"The lab we use in your area does not have the equipment needed to do the test. I've requested another lab and will let you know"

Since this job is for the railroad, I am guessing this COULD be a hair test. Searching google for the company name and drug test returns vague results, so I have no proof.

My hair is 1 inch long and the last time I smoked was 3 weeks ago. This leads me to believe that since I don't know it's a hair test yet, I can cut my hair to just above 1/4 inch, to where the clean hair started growing, and shave off all other hairs. time consuming >

It says they need a 1/2 inch hair strand legally as the minimum. So technically you only need to be clean for one month that way.

Employers and employees in the railway industry are covered under the regulations mandated by DOT. Under the regs, only body fluids are the specimens to be collected and tested - not hair.

Here is the link to the railway-specific Federal Regulations: eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations

Youre not all wrong. Not every position and not every company use them, but lots do. Ive been researching and a lot of people saying they get hair tested.

The company is a railroad company? Yeah, only if you are going to be in a job that is considered safety sensitive in actual railways such as engineer or conductor or whatever else is covered under the guidelines it will be a urine test. If the job is for a rail company and you are not assigned to a job that involves safety sensitive work, then they can do whatever test they wish.

I've been in the same boat. Doing work with a company that is under the DOT regulations but not actually assigned to that specific work, I was not under those testing guidelines and I had a 10 panel split NON-DOT test compared to those who did what I did, but in an area where gas was worked on, then they were tested under the 5 panel DOT test.

You need to find out if your job is considered safety sensitive as defined by the Fed regulations. If ANY aspect is, you fall under that category, and will be tested based on those guidelines. If NO aspect of your job is, then you fall under whatever test they implement.

That's what I originally thought but his email was confusing. What lab doesn't have their equipment? That's why I was guessing there was a blood/saliva/hair test to go with the urine one. Personally I have a gut feeling it will just be a urine test, but i'll prepare for both. I'm Michael from Prison Break when it comes to preparing.

Doubtful it will be either blood or saliva. Most likely urine, just because it's less expensive than hair testing.
