First Grow Problem!
Hi guys, this is my first grow. Yesterday I decided to cut off all of the dead looking leaves. I checked the PH and it was pretty low so I added some Earth Juice Up to it about 24 hours ago. When I woke up 8 hours ago... this is how my plant looked. I gave it water and when I got home from work, it still looks like this! At the bottom, the runoff water is discolored. It's weird because in the morning the container that holds the runoff water was completely empty. I added little water, not enough for it to run down. I emptied the water and gave it new water. WHAT DO I DO!? Is it too late to save this poor guy? I am assuming it is the PH. The heat in the room in 84 degrees F... I know this is terrible but it is what I have to deal with because my dad caught my plants recently. But the heat alone in one night shouldn't be able to destroy this plant since it has been dealing with the 84 degrees for almost a week now. HELP?!?!

The plant is shocked nearly to death, because of too drastic a change in Ph...."a little Low"? What exactly was it? What was the Ph of the solution you added? What is the Ph now? Soil, water/feeding and runoff? Knowing all these should answer your question for you.

I did not measure the ph of the PH UP that I added, but after I did and checked the soil, the PH did not really change at all.
So far the only thing I did to attempt to save this plant was flush it down. It's currently in its 12 hours of light right now

I've never emptied the runoff -- that's not the problem. Tank's probably right about the pH change.

Fuck those cheap meters. They caused me more trouble than if I didn't use them. They lei, lie, lie. Either go with a quality ($100+) meter AND the proper calibrating solutions and correction solution or don't use a meter at all. Just my opinion from a number of bad experiences with Rapidgro meters and test kits. phooey!

What are you using for a meter, Shov? I broke down a couple weeks ago and got a Hanna HI99104. Not real expensive ($35), but more than double that by the time you get the calibrating & storage solutions.
Was using the dye drops and never felt comfortable with that. So far, this thing seems to work pretty well and I'm adding about the same up/down as I was with the drops. Feel like a damn chemist by the time feeding is over.

I use Bluelab pH meter. I like that it uses standards cell batteries (AA or AAA, I forget) and it calibrates automatically, no trim pots to fuck with, you push the calibrate button and put yer probe in the solutions.

It can be 84 in the room but under the light it will be much hotter are you running a fan? What soil are you using? When you water is the water going into the soil or running down the side of the container? Don't fertilize a stressed plant or over water it and set it out from under the light on the side to let it recover.

I'm using miraclegrow mix that is said to last for 6 months ( whatever that means ) . I am not using any nutrients to water my plants with right now as I am still in the "nooby" phase and want to learn more about growing in general.
I set the light timer so that it starts at 3 am and ends around 9 pm. When I get home around 2-3 pm, The tempteraure reaches 90 degrees. But that is because I have to close the closest. But once it opens it goes down to 84 for the night.
